I was in Home Depot last week with my Bro-in-law and we were discussing CCW with one of the employees. We were told that Home Depot don't allow their employees to carry nor posses their firearms in their car on home Depot property. I spend a lot of $$$ there as I send my employees there for tools and materials for projects we do. I will not be spending my $ there anymore!
i also just read this on FB:
Dear Home Depot:
Tonight I discovered the Home Depot does not support the 2nd Amendment, and the right to bear arms.
I was shopping with my wife, and 7 year old daughter, picking out paint colors for our new home. We had several items in our cart, and were having our paint shaken when a store associate approached me and asked to speak to me. He asked me to remove my weapon from the store, as Home Depot is a "weapon free zone." I quietly said that I would find another place to shop, and left the store. On my way out the door I checked just to make sure, and sure enough, there was no sign on your door stating no firearms allowed.
I am an Air Force veteran, and possess a valid license to carry a concealed weapon within the state of Iowa. So I left the Home Depot and drove down to my local Mendards store, where they had no problem with my legal carry of a weapon. You can see from the receipt below that you missed out on a fair chunk of money, and this is just the first trip of many as we renovate our newly purchased home. I will also make sure to let everyone I know, that the Home Depot doesn't support the 2nd Amendment, and somehow believes that criminals will follow their "no weapon zone."
Home Depot is no different than other major U.S. companies. Nearly all other national retailers have similar policies that prohibit employees from bringing weapons onto their property.
Several years old. No idea if their policy has changed since then:

Most large retail corps do that to their employees, they can't background check drug check their people once every week, and they have to cover their ass from the Fed.

I worked at a place that made optics that went into SAM's and armed predator drones, and the owners were very anti gun. Kinda like " I don't mind making shit that kills people 9,000 miles away, but I hate guns". So yeah a lot of places have a no weapons policy in place

the Home Depots around here are worthless, their employees wouldnt know if you were carrying bc you couldnt find one to show
I don't believe they're anti 2a. Just like all corporations they have to cover their ass since wages are low and turnover is high.
Plus the home depot by my house seems to hire women based on looks and that makes them A-OK with me.

Walmart doesn't allow this either. It's the norm, not the exception in policy. It's about lawsuits.
They can't really stop employees from keeping a firearm in their vehicle according to CO law. What they don't know...

I work part time for my school, same policy but I carry concealed anyways because they allow students to carry conceal. I'd rather be fired than rely on unarmed security to protect me from a potential shooter on campus
Concealed means concealed.

LIABILITY. Ins co will drop them in a heart beat, let alone get ins coverage, IF they allowed any employee to CCW.

really? most of the ones I have been too look like they hire the "should be marching for civil unions rally."
..........not that I have anything against that, but there is some truth in it.
My friend worked for them for like 4 years and was let go out of the blue back in 2004, he wasn't the only one. He ended up as part of a lawsuit with several other ex employees claiming that certain people in upper management had bias towards those who were straight and male. He ended up getting part of the $$$ in the settlement.

As Jim said, part liability, not always necessarily anti-gun. Every place I have worked at in Human services has a NO weapons policy, not because of an agenda but for liability, specially working with people or the general public. You might not imagine the liability insurance they already have to pay, imagine what it cost if the insurance company knew they allowed weapons on premises.

Longmont isn't far and there are a lot less people up here... You might enjoy it. He should have lost because he is a he and they had bias towards straight males... The fuck? Everything is wrong with this lawsuit.

Should have clarified, the "Home Depot upper management" named in the suit were split tails................... not males.

This is a sad fact. You'd be hard pressed to find a megacorp retail store that would allow employees to have guns on site.

Location: Denver
What do you expect? All the pretty girls get jobs as strippers, cocktail waitresses, bartenders, and gogo's... Gotta get a bit more country or pay the coin.

I definitely hope they aren't anti 2a, as a contractor I as well as my boss and other subs spend quite a bit of money at home depot a year for things here and there, if they truly are anti 2a I would have no problem driving the extra few miles to find another retailer that is pro guns

right? jeez I've seen some FEmployees there that I've wanted to build a shrine to
Most if not all companies have a 'weapons policy' that governs employees. Basically a CYA if an employee goes postal.. 'well we told them they aren't allowed to have them'. Find one major retailer that allows it. I dare you.

I conceal carry when I am in the office often and since I travel a lot for work. If its a state that accepts my FL CCW I check my sidearm and carry there as well.
Since its concealed I see no issue. Now when I am going into secure locations like Military Bases, DOD Secure Facilities, etc I just lock it in the car or hotel safe.
I've seen countless customers OC at Home Depot in Westminster, Superior and Longmont with no problems. I've always thought they were gun friendly.

This. Except they get fired if/when they find out.

This is basically what I came in here to say. If you pull your money out of an organization that doesn't allow employees to carry, you might as well not spend another dollar of your money, and while you're at it close all your bank accounts. Hell, the federal government doesn't allow their employees to carry at work, so you might as well shred your federal reserve notes as well.

My company has a not on property on firearms for employees as well. Out of sight, out of mind.

I don't understand the reasoning behind pissing people off, just be because you can. It only serves to strengthen their resolve.
