View Full Version : If you are new to reloading read this:
Nice primer on reloading. If you really want to look at cost savings when it comes to reloading, try pricing off-the-shelf premium hunting rounds ($2-$5 a piece, ex: weatherby ammo). You can easily recoup your equipment purchase, since you can reload each round for about 1/4 of the price.

Great thread! I will get into reloading some day, once I've acquired the guns needed to justify it. I was actually watching a bunch of Hickok45's vids on it last night. This one got me started:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irC3NuIKDm4
That Dillon stuff is nice, but really expensive.
Heck yes!
Oldschool youtube - I appriciate it!

The 550 casefeeder is one of the very few Dillon products that I do not recommend. Problematic at best.
If you want a casefeeder and more speed, get the 650 or 1050.

Its a real nicely done overview. I would just caution a new reloader that not every piece of gear mentioned is required to get started.
Thanks for the GREAT writeup. I have been around reloading for years, but dad always did it for the most part. I would through powder for him when doing a bunch of rounds to shoot P-dogs.

Nice write up and very timely since I just picked up a Dillon 550.
Always wondered about the merits of depriming on a separate press. My previous experience is with a single stage press, so always deprimed/resized on it but I can see the merits of having a second press for tasks like depriming (if so inclined), bullet puller or other one off tasks.

I have seen it, and it is next on the list of things to get. I am also going to get a giraud case annealer here soon because I have a pile of .308 that needs some attention.
Buy the collet set up for their trimmer an run them through my giraud.
