I've been looking at them recently (4.5 x 14) and would like to know if someone here is using one and if so, how well they like it...
Worth the money?
Clarity?
Pro's / Cons?
Thanks in advance!

Great glass, well built quality optics. Not a lot of tacticool features like mil adjustment turrets, reticles or first focal plane scopes. Fantastic for hunting or recreational shooting, but not the greatest for long range or tactical matches... Just my 2 cents

Thanks...I should have clarified it would just be for my hunting rifle. When you say not the greatest for long range how "long range" are we talking? I've got a 3x9 leupold now that I love, but looking for a little more clarity at magnification at 300/400 yards. Also, would love to start shooting at greater distances at paper (600 +/-) and was kind of looking for a decent all around optic. [Beer]

I think it would do great at those ranges. Spotting hits on paper @ 600y is not going to be easy (or possible) even with a high quality spotting scope ($2k). High power ranges use people in the "pit" to place makers on your impacts. If it's just you...
As far as clarity, Zeiss (aka Carl Zeiss) is a glass manufacturer and they make glass for cameras and scientific instruments. http://corporate.zeiss.com/history/en_de/corporate-history.html Their products speak for themselves.
The advantages of tactical scopes is the ease of adjustments. If you can spot you hits with a mil-dot or hashed reticle, you can immediately analyze and and correct for your misses. First focal plane scopes allow the reticle to remain accurate at all magnification levels. This means your measurements at 5x or 25x will be accurate within the reticle. After switching to a Mil/Mil scope I cant imaging going back to anything else.
Long story short; It is really the shooter and not the gear. With practice you can shoot long distance with accuracy. You may need some math skills, DOPE, a ballistic calculator and lots of practice. Go to one of the long range shoots, like CRC or the Pueblo match and you will learn a ton! I know I did.

Thanks again for the info...It all sounded good until you ruined the thread with the "math skills" talk, lol [facepalm]I've decided to go with that scope for sure, so I'm excited to start using it. I'm just going to hobby paper hunt for awhile, but would love to learn more about the long range shoots someday.
