I have no clue as to what type of weapon, but have run accross the term "Glock Leg."

“Glock leg.” The phenomenon of supposedly well trained officers shooting their own leg with their Glock.

Ouch!! His fellow officers will NEVER let him live that down.

Sounds like he'll be fine, which makes it perfectly acceptable to make fun of him.... :)

remember, he's one of those "professionals" who are specially trained to handle firearms, do not attempt this yourself!

This is why you bring the people to the standard and not the standard to the people

i know a guy that shot his finger off holstering a 1911. why would you think it was a glock? All it takes is for part of the holster or your shirt or something to get into the trigger guard when you're pushing the pistol into the holster...bang! It could be as simple as the thumb snap strap to catch it on the way in. Many Glock holsters were recalled for this.

You could do it with a 1911, but you'd have to have the thumb safety off and have a good grip on the grip safety while catching the trigger. It takes a little more effort to screw up.;)

So my "shot in the butt" story comes from the LA riots.
JoeE2 we will call this private was a tanker. Tankers carry 1911's in a chest holster. JoeE2 was cooler than the other privates and had secured hisself an old school officers hip holster from WW2. Not to be outdone by the officers, he put his holster on the left hip in the crossdraw fashion. He was very cool. Upon deployment to downtown LA, JoeE2 was given some REAL bullets for his issued pistol and was told by his stupid, fucking fire team leader to place his weapon on "half cock" with a round in the chamber. I was a bit unnerved by this move and my fears were soon realized. Soon after given this order a shot rang out in the parking lot where we were standing. Those of us who were combat vet's dropped to prone and looked for cover. The non-combat veterans looked around wondering what happened. I was standing about 1 meter from JoeE2 and noticed that as he was hitting the ground his pistol was falling from his hand and it was charged and ready to go. Most of the M1911A1 pistols in the California National Guard were of WW2 era and when I saw this old, tired veteran pistol, who may have seen action in the Pacific theater hitting the ground I clenched my teeth and prayed it would not go off. My prayers were answered. After realizing JoeE2 had fired his pistol and were not under fire from Bloods or Crips several of us rushed to his aide. I was a combat lifesaver and the 2 closest soldiers to the scene happened to be civilian Paramedics. We did a quick assesment and learned that it was a self inflicted wound and was JoeE2 was not endanger of losing his life, unless he went into shock. We dressed his wound and called for the medic, who promptly came out from under the Duece and a half he was protecting (or something) and screamed "OH MY GAWD, HE'S BEEN SHOT!!!" at which point JoeE2 screamed "I DON"T WANT TO DIE!!!" and went into shock. Fortunately the ambulance arrived and scooped JoeE2 off to the local medical facility and I was voluntold to go with him to secure his sensitive items. (not those, you sick bastards) and I was his best friend after that. (not really, but that is what he thought in his morphene induced state and told me several times. My trip to the hospital was not a total waste since we had deployed from NorCal so fast I had no shaving kit with me and was able to purchase one at the hospital)

Anyway, in the course of the ensuing investigation it was determined that his pistol was on half cock and while fishing around trying to holster it with his finger on the trigger, he brought the hammer all the way back and discharged it into his thigh. He suffered a flesh wound and walked with a cane for over a year and still had a noticable limp for quite some time afterwards.

I went on to bigger and better things...
