Did a search and nothing came up.

“His friends and his neighbors stated that he did not trust the government, that he was a Vietnam vet, and that he had PTSD,” Byrd told the civil rights group. “He was standoffish, didn’t socialize or have any contact with anybody. He was a survivalist type.”

Oh boy...

In that article: "But Tim Byrd, chief investigator with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, told the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Hatewatch (http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2013/01/30/police-hostage-taker-in-alabama-standoff-has-anti-america-views/) that Dykes had “anti-America” views.

I don't trust the government either. Does that make me "anti-American"? I've met a lot of vets but never one that had "anti-America" views.

Who's going to drag up the "what will they say about you?" thread?

If he owns a rifle, I can all but guarantee it will be reported to be a "Bushmaster".

It's the same bs the libs have been spewing lately: "If you take up arms against the government, that's TREASON!!" No, it isn't. Treason is advocacy of overthrow of our constitutional form of government. Patriotism is loyalty to the Constitution and the form of government it prescribes, up to and including holding elected officials accountable for unconstitutional acts.

Bumping this due to an update:
RPT: Boy in Alabama Hostage Situation Released, Suspect Dead; Press Conference Coming Soonhttp://foxnewsinsider.com/2013/02/04/rpt-boy-in-alabama-hostage-situation-released-suspect-dead-press-conference-coming-soon/

It would appear that the boy was freed by some sort of action on the LE's part. I only wish they had done so sooner, but understand that they didn't want any loss of life if possible.

Wow, glad they got that 5yr old out safe, wonder how they pulled that off? Just a little bunker with one trapdoor. Poor little guy, was probably scared to death! I don't care how much you hate the government, don't take it out on children or the innocent public. Good riddance to that creep.

I thought I heard that the little boy has Auspergers, which would make this nightmare 100 times worse for him.

Thank god it's over, and thank god they were able to get the little boy out safely.

My guess, dig a tunnel to the side of the bunker and then a shaped charge to gain entry. My understanding is that the FBI HRT conducted the rescue.

Good outcome, well done by all Local, State, and Federal agencies on this one. Sounds like they implemented the 3 T's for a barricade subject well. Time, Talk, Tactics.
