I'm getting my act together so I can start reloading. I was wondering about good recipes. I am starting with .45ACP because I was told it is the easiest. Do I need a trimmer for pistol brass or only rifle brass? I have Hornaday 230 grn RN FMJ projectiles, Remington large No. 2 1/2 pistol primers, about 800 pieces of fired brass, and H380, Hercules Unique, and Dupont IMR-4831 powders. Which of these powders are the best? I've heard some are sticky. I'm trying to learn with nobody actually showing me. It seems complicated and I don't want to blow up a good gun. I got a Hi-point .45 just for testing since I'm scared of it.
I want to do .308 WIN next. I was told I need a small base die set for semi-auto, is this true? I was also told I need a FL die set for a bolt but the FL weakens the brass so it can only be reloaded like three times. Is that true? If I get the Small base die set and they dont fit the bolt gun can I get the other die after to size full length? What is the best powder for this? I have a bunch of Sierra 165 Grn soft point BT Spitzer projectiles and Winchester large rifle primers.
Thanks in advance. I'm really worried about the powder loads.
