Just picked up my new Mosin M44 from LockNLoad and other than cleaning the snot out of it, should I have it checked by a gunsmith? I noticed the whole assembly has a little wiggle room in the stock, not sure if that is normal or not. Other than that the bolt is smooth like butter and the stock is pretty clean, almost looks brand new. Think I lucked out in that regard. Havnt had much of a chance to go over the markings but its dated 1945.
Edit: going over it, it appears just to be really oily nothing in the way of "gunk" is that the cosmoline or just a heavy oil job when it was refurbed?

If it makes you feel more comfortable,by all means have a smith look at it.
From the looks of it it looks like an all matching number refurb. So I doubt you'll have any issues with it.The wiggle is normal since it is a refurb. You can tighten it up a bit with shmming and such.
Sounds like somebody did most the de gunking on it once it got here.Usualy when they refurb them at the arsenal they cake them in cosmoline.
I would thouroughly degrease it just to be safe.Cosmoline can still be in the chamber, that stuff hardens like concrete.Soak it in mineral spirits and get a pick or somthing and clear out the nooks and crannys.
Also soak your bolt as well.
The stock looks sweet! No need to clean that just use lemmon oil and wipe down.
If your going to go throuh the numbers theres an excellent book out there for referance I use all the time(I have over 12 mosins and carbines :D )
