I was fired yesterday from work over my CCW. I told the HR girl, here is how you handle this when i was called in, 1st you can ask me to not carry and I have to say yes, if i don't I get a ticket Well she said I was making work unsafe and to pack my bags, and i did not go around telling everyone, the only one who knew was a guy that i work with was at the same class as me. so I want to please ask all of you to boycott Crocs and its sister company Jibbitz. for there "no carry" policy [Rant2] Thank you all and God Bless

Sorry to hear about that. I hope you get back on your feet very soon.

How did they find out? Was it clearly written in your company policy that a first time offense = immediate termination? It always amazes me how they can think a CONCEALED firearm in the hands of a law abiding citizen would make a workplace unsafe. The logic is flawed.

Good luck.

Copy of the email I sent to Crocs today:

I have been a Crocs customer since your company was new and have enjoyed many years of wearing them as well as my entire family. I am writing you to let you know I was recently informed of an employee being terminated for carrying a firearm with a permit. Since you, clearly, do not uphold the values of our founding father's I will no longer purchase any Crocs shoes and will advise my friends in the Loveland/Fort Collins and camping community to do the same. I am very sad about this loss because I truly love your product but I value my rights above anything.

I am not a fan of CROX. Not just their product but their company executives as well.

Over priced stuff. I didn't like croc stuff anyways, and will not buy em.
Ontop of that, I work weekend at DKS. I will let all my customers & Associates and Regional guy about how "waste" of space Croc products relative to all the future opportunity cost of having other products instead.

Damn that sucks! I guess one more reason to like my job at Pepsi. I specifically asked our HR lady if I could have guns in my Pepsi truck because we are allowed to use it for personal use. I figured I'd drive my truck up to the south shoots when I am free. Since those that have gone to the shoots know, I have driven up there in my Pepsi truck with my guns. She even said I could have guns in my truck while working. They don't care.

She did say, we shouldn't carry guns on us while working. I see the point. The managers of our stores saying Pepsi takes the cola wars so seriously. They send their reps in here packing. :)

I hope you get a better job. I'll never wear crocs.

Well
that's interesting
I take care of George Boedecker Senior's pasture (yes, the founder's dad, he's told me all about it)
I carry all the time.

Wonder how he would feel about that.

I would also notify the NRA (provided you are a member) as they are fighting these things all the time. Pete Boyles of KHOW just got a CCW so it is near to his heart as well, and he is a crusader. I will spend some time notifying some retailers that I will not pruchase Crocs from them. Sportman's Warehouse (where I spend a bunch of money on camping stuff) comes to mind...

In the company hand book it said nothing about carrying, but I think that it might have been this girl i use to date there too. Her and i went shooting a while back, she had never been and we just started talking about going shooting and 4 months ago she got laid off, but before she did she broke up with me. Then started seeing another guy at work and right before the holiday weekend he and i had a disagreement over work related items and since he and my Ex are best friends with the HR girl the said he owns guns and that is the same guy that was in my CCW class, but he did not get his card because he has a few drug related incidents. I just talked to a guy there and he is friends with this guy he belives thats how it went down. thanks for the support guys God bless

Daniel187, your posts are not exactly easy to follow, but let me see if I have this straight:

1. You were an employee of Crocs.
2. You have a CCW and carried at work.
3. The employee handbook says NOTHING prohibiting firearms.
4. You were called into HR and terminated on the spot for carrying at work, without any warning or prior explanation that this was not allowed.

Sorry it happened, unfortunately Colorado is an "at will" state which basically means an employer can terminate and employee at any time for just about any reason.

My employer recently made a policy banning all weapons. I wrote a letter complaining to the head of HR. The VP in charge of my office (I work in a satellite office) called me and said don't push the issue and for me personally it is "don't ask, don't tell" and I should keep carrying. I asked him if he would have my back if someone complained and he didn't answer. So for now I am disarmed at work.
