Colorado Shooting Sports store in Greeley

On my way to lunch today I noticed a new "Guns and Ammo" sign on 8th in Greeley. I grabbed lunch and stopped by to have a look. Don't bother. Glocks priced and just under $1k, they're kidding right? They know that you can get them for half that just up the road a few minutes? Even if they decided to open their store with some personal inventory that's ridiculous. You may get some random guy who walks in wanting a gun who will pay that. But his buddies will later tell him he's an idiot and he won't be back. I already have Glocks but there is always room for more. But you're not going to get guys like us in there who are repeat customers.


Sorry, I'm venting. Seeing those prices made my stomach turn.

not to rag Anthony.. But, he is the reason I dont own a glock. He is the ultimate Glock fanboy. Cool, whatever floats your boat. So, in a 2 week period of time I ended up with a Glock 30 and a Glock 26. Knowing he is the ultimate glock guy, I stopped in. He said you cant shoot lead through the glock. He said I would need to spend extra money to buy a rifled barrel for each gun. (polyaganol) rifling doesnt work with lead he said.
I figured there was no way I was going to shoot expensive rounds or buy extra barrels. So, I sold or traded them both and just bought a couple more XDMs. Now, I have 6 or so.

I stopped in a week or two ago and was underwhelmed. I know inventory is tough to come by and most of what the have is highly priced but the $1900 M&P killed it for me. Sure, it had XS Big Dots, was stippled and had a full Apex kit in it but damn, almost $2k for an M&P.

Is he actually trying to sell guns or is it a convenient place for personal inventory? Most everything looked used.

The problem isn't shooting the lead bullets, it's what happens when you switch back to FMJ bullets after shooting thousands of lead bullets down the barrel without removing the lead that gets left behind.

oh, I know he wasnt. I looked it up after that and read tons of posts. some people just go ahead and shoot lead some say get a new barrel My point was really that he is the biggest advocate for buying glocks and he talked me out of owning a glock. I just can see spending additional money on spare barrels. When my XDs and XDMs shoot anything I put in them.

His prices have always been high. I have trained with him and enjoyed that, but I wouldn't buy my guns and ammo there.

Whats sad is his prices were that high before the panic! Whats worse is some idiots pay it!!! I personally dont know anyone who has bought anything from him, or that would go in there a second time. But I seen a sucker get bent over and butt raped by him.

I'm sure that does wonders for his company. I would think that most companies are looking for repeat customers. There are only so many dummies to be taken advantage of in an area the size of Greeley.
