I'm just really proud of my daughter. I've been working on her firearm safety and basics with an airsoft gun but yesterday she shot a "real" pistol for the first time. It was a friends sig p229 lower with a .22lr upper. She did REALLY well. I'll have to get her on paper and post some of her groups. I only got a couple pics since I wanted to focus on her while she was shooting. anyway, here are 2 pics from yesterday!

thanks guys! she was TOTALLY addicted. She went through 7x10 round mags despite the bitter cold wind and such. Even after giving it back to the owner for him to enjoy, she just kept asking me to shoot it. That being said...I'm now in the market for a .22lr pistol. So, if anyone has a one they'd like to let go of, let me know. thanks!

Ya, I saw those but I'm concerned about length of pull. Is that what it's called for pistols?

Adorable. Good for you for starting her young - we'll need the next generation to be gun-savvy.

Great job dad!

Adorable daughter you have there. The face pic made me chuckle because of the joy you could sense in her grin.

I'll also second the great job on the hearing & eye protection.

The face pic was taken BEFORE she fired a shot! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics after but it was freezing cold, her nose was running and there was barely any light left. Really looking forward to the next outing.

Any other moms or dads out there want to set up a kids day out shoot? maybe the new ft. carson range?

Define "kids". My youngest turns 21 on Friday. I'm feeling OLD! I was hoping I'd have the BCG I ordered to complete the build for his first AR by now to give to him for his 21st. It's been a month or more and not even a word on shipping yet. They we're supposedly in stock too.

For the rest of y'all, take advantage of this offer. Let the kids see that shooting sports can be a great social activity if done safely.

"Kids" of all ages!!!

My youngest has only taken one un-assisted step his WHOLE life...lol!!

Nothing like seeing the kiddos discovering a whole new world. That has been one of my favorite parts of being a parent.

That being said, starting them *before* they know everything, (which happens around 13 or so), is one of the best things we can do for our children. Good job!

Nice! Yeah, they need to learn young, especially safety & respect. She's gonna be a sharpshooter by jr.high, haha!

She's cute as a button, and I think it's terrific that you're teaching her this skill. Good on you!

It's been longer than I would have liked but I just haven't been able to shoot much lately. However, I did make it out for a few hours yesterday afternoon and brought Calla out as well. Thanks to Spleify, Calla was able to shoot good quality ammo that really cycled well through the smith and wesson m&p22. The pistol was a friends that I wanted Calla to "try out" for size. It was still too large for her hands, but she still had a great time and did surprisingly well.

We set her up about 9 yards back from the target. I should have put her closer.... Here are some pics I took while she was shooting. My friend was watching over her while I snapped a few with the phone. She had a couple flyers but look at that tight little group at the bottom! [UZI]I think she did well considering it was only her second time firing any gun, it was a BIG pistol (for her) and how far back she was.

She only shot a few rounds at the paper target. After that, she wanted to blast cans so this one target was all she had on paper. We'll keep working on her marksmanship for sure!

Also, she is wearing eye protection....just hidden behind her hair. Safety first!

Nice! Love the hat too! That's one of my favorite latin phrases. But yeah, the gun looks really huge for her right now, but if she can control it fairly well now she should be set for life!

Gotta love the "free" BCM hats! She handles the "recoil" well. I'm kinda surprised actually. Although it's a .22lr, in a lightweight pistol format...it still has a bit of felt recoil. Especially for a kiddo.

Good to see you got her out again.
She is not doing to bad either, considering her size vs the firearm.
Great bunch of pics......THANKS

Funny you say that my son is 14 and he knows everything there is to know about anything. The rest he will argue and debate until I want to ring his neck.... But with love.

I just started my daughter who is phasing into the know it all stage. Luckily she is very serious about doing the right thing and receptive to my teaching. Good job to the both of you. Very refreshing to see young shooters coming up.
