View Full Version : Does this make it fall under the NFA rules?
Saw this on armslist. Was wondering, doens't swapping out the long barrel for the short make it an SBR? Doesn't that mean it needs the "tax stamp". And if it was purchased as a "handgun" doesn't the folding stock also make it an NFA item? Was curious. I'm not familiar with the NFA rules as I don't own anything that qualifies, so have not looked into it... Was just wondering if you could just buy this and not get in trouble immediately...

Pretty sure it does. "intent" as I understand it is the issue. Especially since its pictured with the SB and stock.

in that config as pictured YES. you can turn a pistol in to a rifle, not the other way around. WE have talked about it before incl links to atf etc. For those who would debate what you can and cannot do
It is possible he meant to say "display barrel" and misspoke. All IMI UZIs came with a 16" carbine barrel and a NON-FUNCTIONAL display barrel. "Rifle" barrels were available aftermarket in 20" - 24" lengths.

Sorry, the Model A came with functioning short & long bbls, This one is a CENTURY, not a Model A Uzi. Big difference.
Century Arms Uzi for sale or trade,
Funny, picture has been changed to only show the long barrel mounted....

It was real easy to get surplus UZI SMG barrels. Sportsmansguide even sold them. Very cheap path to a Federal felony sadly.

or a cheap addition to the $200 to make a nice little SBR.
