That was honestly the first thing that came to my mind. If you boots and gloves dont get wet, then you wont get as cold.

I'm curious to see how long it lasts, or how it works on fabric with regards to fliexibility and noise.

I bet boots are not a big issue, but gloves could be. Depends on the elasticity of the substance after it dries. I may buy the 32 oz set and play with it.

Suppressor manufacturers need to start coating their baffles with that stuff.

Water/Oil/Waste pipes. Think about how less force it would take to push fluid through a tube with out the resistance of friction with the walls of the tube.

^This. This stuff could be far more revolutionary than simply keeping you from getting messy and wet. This stuff could seriously change many industries. When normal physics doesn't apply, things can become ultra efficient.

I think you'd sink to the bottom of the lake. The water would recede like the red sea. ;)

Whoever ordered the stuff, please respond to this thread once you've had the chance to use it a little bit. I'm sure there are others among us, aside from me, who are quite interested.

Specifically, I'm curious about how long it lasts... does it come right off of non-porous surfaces (metal?) as soon as there's any wind, water pressure, soap, etc?

Very cool. You guys who try, please let us know. I wonder if it is breathable like Gore-Tex.

I had the rare opportunity to get a case of this stuff and experiment with it a few months ago. It is amazing, and easy to apply. The durability isn't great, which pretty much rules out most great uses you could think of. As an example, if you coat a piece of metal, put it under the faucet for a little while, it works as advertised. After about 30 minutes, it has worn off the spot that water is being run on.

It also isn't clear, so you couldn't really put it on a windshield or something.

I sprayed a piece of wood and still have it, and that seems to be holding up fine, probably because it's so porous and the product can really grab on. I don't know how it stands up to sun, but you could spray your house or your roof with it and that would probably be good.

All in all, I think this stuff will have all sorts of uses for things that occasionally get wet, but in my experimentation it will not stand up to running water.

Damn, did seem miraculous. Too bad it doesn't last. But it's only time before they improve this! Shit, I can't believe how long it took to get that informercial black spray-on rubber stuff you see every night now. GOD BLESS CHEMSTRY NERDS! I'm gonna order some and use it on shoes, and outdoor clothes & gear.

Spray the bottom of your boat with it.

As odd as it may sound, that'd actually slow a boat down. Before major regatta's boat hulls are actually soaped so the water won't sheet off the bottom as easily. Water/water contact is best for hull speed.

If this stuff would hold up, it would probably prevent barnacles.

If it did, the Navy would buy every ounce this company could produce. As it is they spend a fortune on bottom paint research.

I was testing this product for a different purpose, but I was thinking "if this stuff works, and is durable, I'm moving to Florida and starting a company painting boat hulls." After testing, I don't think it's durable enough. It is still amazing and worth experimenting with.

My first thought that came to mind was somehow mixing it with paint and using that paint buildings, houses etc especially freeway walls and overpasses. No more graffiti! For interior of homes, no more worries of the kids writing on the walls. Garage floors would remain spotless, just take a broom and push it all out. If the durability ever gets there the possibilities would be endless.

What about electronics? Is it a coating or more of a sealant? As in, would it fill tiny gaps/crevices in a cell phone?

Imagine how much cell phone companies could charge for this type of application. If I recall, I've seen something similar for phones that was around $100/application.
