ok, actual house bills are up:
1224 - Prohibiting Large-capacity Ammunition Magazines (http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2013a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont3/7E6713B015E62E6F87257B0100813CB5?Open&file=1224_01.pdf)

1228 - Payment For Background Checks For Gun Transfers (http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2013a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont3/04005C2BDBC54E4087257AEE00585D19?Open&file=1228_01.pdf)
1229 - Background Checks For Gun Transfers (http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2013a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont3/590C29B4C02AFC2F87257A8E0073C303?Open&file=1229_01.pdf)

Please write your state reps and ask them not to support these bills. You can get contact information here. (http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2013A/cslFrontPages.nsf/HomeSplash?OpenForm) or there are plenty of other places listed n this site to easily contact your elected reps.

Not the magazine one would require magpul to put a MFG date and unique serial number on every mag. And of course it is delayed confiscation since they cannot be passed on to heirs

1224 - magazine ban - as listed above. Delayed confiscation and would probably drive magpul manufacturing out of state.
1226 - CC on college - includes college grounds and events (even if off campus), only exception is for security guards employed by the school.
1228 - fee for transfer - makes the CBI fund itself solely from transfer fees. extra money from excessive fees = reduce fee next year
1229 - universal BG check - straight forward "must use FFL" - may charge a fee of up to $10 for this service. not required to provide the service so good luck finding someone who wants $10.

More on 1229:
no FFL needed for:
gifts among immediate family (defined)
executing a will
temporary transfer in these cases:
in the home
at an official shooting range
at a competition
while hunting

Well now we have bill numbers. They should be included on every piece of email and physical letter we send. No more general "No more assault weapon ban" crap - we need to say Vote NO on HR 1224, etc.

I just re-sent with these bills again. Been blasting them everyother day. I think I have been flagged as "SPAM" now. [Coffee]

Is it a shot at Magpul?
Has anybody heard much from them? I'm sure they are a bit busy right now but I would like to see some political involvement from businesses such as theirs.

Is it a shot at Magpul?
My guess is that its a direct and calculated attack specifically designed to run them out of the state (especially out of their precious stronghold; Boulder).

Email them but CALL them as well. John Morse today said that the NRA does not support his anti gun bills but Colorado residents do. That is a load of crap. Who does he think make up the NRA. WE ARE THE NRA and I SURELY do not support anything he is selling. CALL THEM tomorrow. Call Morse's office and call Hickenlooper's office.

Here is the contact list for one side of the General Assembly. This lists their emails and phone numbers in case you are on a slow connection and don't have time to pull each page up. I will type up the other page tomorrow.

CALL THEM.

These bills all disgust me. Being a college student (I've gone on and off for the last 6 years), I personally feel safer knowing that citizens have the legal ability to carry concealed on campus. In fact, as soon as I get the money, I'm going to file the paperwork for my CCW to hopefully be able to CCW on campus. When will politicians realize that making a place a "gun free zone" does nothing to improve the safety?

If passed, then will college campuses will be getting metal detectors and security, or face losing state funding?. CRS 18-12-214 (4)
And face civil cases when another mass murder occurs because they took away students ability to defend themselves.

That's what I would do if injured in a shooting- I'd go after the school for every penny they have, get them shut down, because they denied me the RIGHT to defend myself. Stupid.

For what it is worth, not much these days, I sent the following to all the state and federal links for my zip on the NRA-ILA contact your reps page. I had to fax the one to Hickenlooper. The only actual response I got was from our friend Representative Holbert. (I got a cut and paste from Udall)

I don't expect answers to the following but I want you thinking about
these numbers. What is the total number of bullets covering the average
person under secret service security? How many rounds per man times the
average detail size? Locally how many rounds on a politician's police
detail?

I do want an answer for this.
Look at those numbers and tell me why my daughter and wife deserve fewer
rounds for self defense. They don't have backup with an earpiece. This is
why I want you to oppose all magazine capacity legislation.
Sincerely,

polski

How are they going to prove that I purchased a 'high-capacity' magazine after the effective date (July 1, 2013) and am in violation of the below rule?

17 (2) (a) A PERSON MAY POSSESS A LARGE-CAPACITY MAGAZINE IF
18 HE OR SHE:
19 (I) OWNS THE LARGE-CAPACITY MAGAZINE ON THE EFFECTIVE
20 DATE OF THIS SECTION; AND
21 (II) MAINTAINS CONTINUOUS POSSESSION OF THE LARGE-CAPACITY
22 MAGAZINE.
23 (b) IF A PERSON WHO IS ALLEGED TO HAVE VIOLATED SUBSECTION
24 (1) OF THIS SECTION ASSERTS THAT HE OR SHE IS PERMITTED TO LEGALLY
25 POSSESS A LARGE-CAPACITY MAGAZINE PURSUANT TO PARAGRAPH (a) OF
26 THIS SUBSECTION (2), THE PROSECUTION HAS THE BURDEN OF PROOF TO
27 REFUTE THE ASSERTION.

I'm laying out all my magazines on the ground, put a Gazette Telegraph from today on the ground w/ CNN on the TV in the background, them I'm putting my GPS tagging to ON on my phone and take a picture of it. Then I'm posting it on that thing called facebook to timestamp it.
crap is getting stupid!

I've written my fair share of emails advising that I'm a responsible gun owner and I don't approve of their measures. They already know where to find me.

I was actually reading/responding to this via the phone so for my own education, because as I read it, there is a grandfather clause for pre-ban mags w/ more than 10 rounds. Correct?

Hold a party, everyone bring their mags, lay them all out and every take their own picture. Get some of every color in there. "See my photo? I've owned all these for years".

you can keep your mags that you already have

you cannot transfer them
you cannot get new ones

What if you happen to "find" a few mags while up visiting someone say in Wyoming, since there was no sale committed in the state, and that no transfer occurred? I saw no "importation" language in the bill.

My friend may just drive up to Wyoming to buy standard capacity magazines. No way to know my friend didn't own them before the laws enactment.

no way for them to prove it without a date stamp on the mag
or it is something new that had not been made before this year
or 60 years have passed and everyone with them now is dead...

Fun part is they way it is written you cannot transfer them to someone out of state either. so their value went from $X to scrap value. Don't expect compensation though.
