View Full Version : Hey Bailey! Might want to rethink that Idaho trip...
Sorry man.... Just thought you should know before you commit.
The Idaho Sheriffs' Association passed a resolution at its annual legislative meeting in Boise this week calling for the state's 44 sheriffs to enforce all laws, and stresses that it's not up to sheriffs to interpret the constitutionality of a law. That's the courts' job.

I think my decision is pretty sound, regardless of what the sheriff's association says. Sheriffs don't write legislation. Thanks for the heads up but I think these results are far more important:

No...most likely in or around Bonneville County. I know...Obama received a disappointing 25% of the vote there. *Sigh*
Here's another interesting article from the NYT no less:
Debate Over Gun Control Is One-Sided in Idaho (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/05/us/politics/debate-over-gun-control-is-one-sided-in-idaho.html?_r=0)
In Idaho’s graceful, striated-marble Capitol, home to one of the more ardent and adamant state legislatures in the nation in standing up for the Second Amendment, lawmakers from both parties say that a torrent of public passion, even panic, about new proposed federal gun rules is pushing in only one direction: toward more guns, not fewer.
Something else from Sen Marv Hagedorn:
"I think the public needs to understand that we aren't going to support any more restrictions, that this legislative body is, and the governor has spoken out very clear, more restrictions are not in our agenda," said Hagedorn.
I think Idaho will be just fine. At least for the remainder of my life anyway.
the only shit part about moving is finding new friends and places to shoot

I'll work through that. Maybe a CO-AR15 visitation day in Idaho.
Also, I think the article in the OP may have misstated the position of the Idaho Sheriff's Assoc:
Idaho sheriffs oppose ‘intrusion’ on gun rights
(http://www.idahostatesman.com/2013/02/08/2443446/sheriffs-oppose-intrusion-on-gun.html)
The Feb. 6 story also said Raney’s position — as stated in a Jan. 25 reader’s view — was that he would “enforce all laws, even ones with which he disagrees.”
“That suggests I would enforce federal gun laws, which is not the case in practicality or philosophy,” Raney said. “Every Idaho sheriff opposes the proposed gun control laws, but regardless, we would simply have no enforcement role if they were to pass. Only federal law enforcement agencies would be involved in such efforts.
The original position paper of the Idaho Sheriff's Assoc: HERE (http://idahosheriffsassociation.com/index_htm_files/Idaho%20Sheriffs%20Position%20on%20Gun%20Violence% 20Sheriffs.pdf)
You can't leave Bailey. Who the hell am I gonna argue with, then?

Lynch them all for violating their oaths of office and be done with this shit.
can you imagine the uproar if we had to start registering our religions?
or if we had to have a license to post on the internet?
The damned amendment reads "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED"
Get over it or go through the process to repeal it.

FTFY... [Beer] It's way too hard to change one of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights- not to mention it's flat-out wrong... The Constitution doesn't give you any rights, it details the rights you are born with and tells the government what they can't do.
No worries Carl, if all goes to hell I'll be just across the border in MT- you can come by, have some BBQ and shoot guns with me. [AR15]

I can't speak for others but there are two reasons I keep dropping Wyoming out of consideration.
1) Jobs (there really just isn't hardly any businesses there)
2) Weather (its cold and windy a lot more of the time).
I propose we launch an operation to recruit more conservatives TO Colorado and take the state BACK! We need you guys to stay here! I mean, I am with you guys in that, Colorado has turned blue, but I want to change it back to bright RED.
More conservatives would also improve the state's economy.
Calling all conservatives, COME TO COLORADO!

Same here- except add #3- it's just so bleeding boring, there's nothing there (except for the western part of the state, near the Tetons).

Humidity, heat and too many people. Texas might be OK if weren't for all the damn Texans. :)

WY would be OK, too, if I could afford to live where I'd want to live. And, as others have said, we need a place where there are jobs...specifically for a well-qualified RN. The eastern half of the state is out. Been there, done that, hated the constant wind and bitter cold in the winter.

After the last election, good luck with that. I understand the sentiment, though. And I've already been told by another member that I need to "man up" and stay here for the same reasons.
It's getting closer to reality. Just to underscore the seriousness of the situation, I've sold the Harley to help finance the move.
Part of the criteria in selecting a new home is going to be an acreage large enough and without any restrictions to that I can build a basic range. We're probably looking at a minimum 20 acre spot (at least I hope). So we'll also have room for RV parking or camping if anyone wants to come up. We'll work out all those details later.
When the voting districts have been gerrymandered to protect incumbent Dems...I'm not sure how you plan to solve that problem. Just ask the eastern half of California how well that's worked out for them.
I came here to get away from the heat in TX....but I can cope with it. I'll get a house with a swimming pool. [Swim]
The constant wind in Wyoming? No thanks.

Exactly. And in a previous post I pointed out how the Idaho Sheriff's Assoc adamantly stated they were against any further infringements on the rights of lawful gun owners.

I'm with you BG. it's not bailing out when the dems have a solid lock in local .gov. Not to mention the comfort we will see with FSA folks come 2014 & 16. Free shitters will NEVER jeopardize their handouts, Never. What makes anyone here, NY, CA now NM think that can be changed short of voting from the roof top?

You think you can run, but you can't hide!!
The “Cloward-Piven Plan” it was created by the Communist party that NEVER went away but changed its name to the Progressive Party.
They were to take over control of
• Federalize as much as possible so that moving to another State has no effect because it is all over the Country
Sooner or later your gonna have to stand and fight- or at least someone in your lineage will have to......

For me it's not so much the heat but the humidity that sucks. And the landscape sucks for the most part. I lived there for 7 years.

Really? You feel the need to belittle someone's family heritage? Maybe post up a photo or two of you abusing a kitten...just to complete the badass image.
If only I could be the tough guy you are, the world would be a grand place.

Your a little aggressive there Bailey....... Not attacking your family or you! Nor belittling your family's heritage, I don't even know it.....Just stating that no matter were you go- your gonna have to face it, sooner or later. This isn't just isolated to Colorado but if the "Cloward-Pivan Plan" is real, its gonna be every were. That is were the lineage part comes in- if your gonna escape to some place that it isn't so prevalent (for now), it is only going to be a matter of time before it is.
Settle down...... It's a discuss board. Have a good day and don't take it so personal!
Edit: "Voters in both France and Greece, two countries ruinously addicted to government entitlements, rejected the ‘austerity' model of debt-reduction and instead doubled down on unsustainable spending sprees. France elected Socialist Francois Hollande as president, and in his acceptance speech he promised to increase government benefits and amp up ‘stimulus' spending programs - the exact things that got France into a metaphorical debtors' prison in the first place. But exactly as Cloward and Piven had surmised, once you get 50+% of the population hooked on ‘free' government money, there's no turning back - they will vote for socialists every time. The election of Hollande is the culmination of Cloward-Piven; the strategy worked, but in the wrong country...
"The message is clear: Once enough voters are on the dole, regardless of your party's ideology or what label it has, you will win elections if you promise to keep the free money flowing. This was Cloward-Piven's point, and they turned out to be frighteningly correct."
