I'm may be going to DU vs CC hockey game up at DU tonight. They say that they have a no weapons policy for students, but how does this apply to non-students? Is there any local denver laws that would criminalize carry at DU?

No
Are you worried about getting expelled from a school you do not attend?

I just don't know if denver has some kind of preemption for the school like they do with open carry and magazines.

DU is a private institution, not bound by city statutes. If they've explicitely prohibited carrying weapons, you do so at your own risk.

They don't have their own police force or jurisdiction if I understand it correctly.

They are a private institution, not bound by STATE higher education laws. They are bound by city ordinance, just like any other business in the city.

Since they are a private institution, they do not have a police department like public educational entities like CU, CSU, etc. They do have a security department and the Denver Police working off duty.

Deleted due to being a double post.
Carrying at DU in violation of their policies may get you ejected from the facility. Failure to comply may open you to charges of trespassing. Concealed means concealed, after all.

Good news, It all worked out just fine. And nobody lost so it was a nice peaceable exit.

That's not entirely accurate... Since DU was the most recent winner of their trophy deal with CC (I can't remember the name) a win or tie makes them the automatic winner of that contest. [Beer] I was at the game too, it was fun, but I would have preferred a win for DU.
