I think the Marine was kinda a d@ck or was the soldier? Anyway don't think the guy had to choke him on the ground again, but I can see why he was choked, punched and kicked out of his house if he had that attitude.

You know what grinds my gears? HE called the police for assistance with a matter, and as soon as they show up he's bitching at them because they took "45" minutes. When people are out risking their lives to come and assist you, don't bitch and moan about it. Show some fucking respect and gratitude ya asshole!

Anyway, i guess that's CA's definition of "community policing!!"

Yea, that why I was kinda wondering who was at fault and on the fence..... However the cop and being he is a Marine should have better self control. I'm gonna say he is a D!ck. Not cop bashing on this one, Marine bashing......

Marine/Cop,
Hmmmm, kids puffing on that cancer stick pretty hard. Probably pinging pretty good. Yup sounds upset. Ok, upset we took a while. Can I see his hands, yup. ok good there. Does he have someone else who is about to jump me or my partner? middle of parking lot, looks ok there. Let's get my community policing verbal judo on here,
"Sir, Understand you are upset and I know it's fustrating that it took us a while to get here. Not enough cops, not enough money in the budget, but now that we're here, can you tell me the situation so we can help you out."

Or

F-n douchenozzle just interrupted my donut break because he can't handle his own business. Oh...he thinks he is bad ass because he was in the Army....now this is personal. One dude here in the parking lot, got back up 1/2 second away. Yup time for action,
Backhand strike to the superscapular nerve, take down. Now let's totally disregard most policy procedures and choke him while my partner watches my Marine awesomeness over his Army douchenozzelness!

interesting, how that escalated in to a use of force case. I would have thought that the officer being an officer (marine not withstanding) would have had more tact in the situation. bringing personal feelings into a situation such as that did not seem to be the correct course of action. I cant say how it should have been handled diffrently because I was not there. just because its on video doesnt reflect very well on body language. the vote could go either way on that one or both ways at the same time. just hard to say.

Well, the guy was probably a real douchebag... I mean, his roommates beat him up and kicked him out... Sounds like some homegrown old-fashioned justice to me, but I don't know the whole story.

The cop assaulted him. No doubt about it. The guy was alone in the middle of the parking lot and did not physically or verbally threaten the cop... and then the cop stepped forward and smashed his face in. That is assault. He should be fires, tried, and convicted for assault, battery, or both. There is no reason that he should think he is above the law and not subject to the same laws as everyone else.

I am not defending the actions of that officer. However, I do know the area and Vallejo is one of the roughest area in the Bay Area. It is on a par with Oakland. Officers are assaulted and shot on a regular basis. There is a huge crack problem there, so an agitated subject approaches in a threatening manner it is within department guidelines to restrain the subject physically. There are no areas in Colorado that are anywhere near to Oakland, Vallejo, Pittsburgh, or Richmond. Those are all right in the same general area. I have some old buddies that are officers in those areas, and talk rarely works with the types they encounter on a daily basis. FYI I grew up about 35 or 40 miles from there, and commuted through those neighborhoods daily for years.

Did the cop go from zero to whoop ass pretty quick? Yes. Was he in the wrong? Maybe. But a lot of officers have been injured or killed for not reacting fast enough. Just my .02

crob1
02-09-2013, 22:45
From the cop's report:

Blake was very agitated and started using profanity toward me. Blakebecame combative by clinching his fist and taking a combative posture while telling me that heis a "U.S. Soldier know who you are talking too".

That seems a little exaggerated in my personal opinion. I think the cop WAY over-reacted. I think he knew it too.

A few observations.

The young guy is obviously of the post 1980 generation. No respect for authority, no respect for others people's space. And most important the lib mantra of it isn't your fault when you act badly is alive and well.

The cop is a dick for dragging the Corps' name into the dirt with his behavior by invoking it as if he was conducting this assault on behalf of the Marines.

I hope the cop's house catches on fire with his family stuck inside and the fire guys take 45 mins to get there. And someone has a camera on to capture his professional calm demeanor.

Lastly. All these cops were doing was an impersonation of LAPD.

watch the video again... Cop Stepped into the victims personal space unprovoked. Victim simply faced him.
Clenching your hands at your sides while smoking a cigarette is not cause for a beat-down, slap, smack or takedown.
he had no weapons, he made no threat.

if you cannot defuse an upset victim without a take-down and "Putting my knee in the middle of your chest" perhaps you need to find a career path in the food service industry.

"Sir, I understand you are upset and I would be too" <-- relating to the victim
"Lets come over here and have a seat while you explain to me what is happening" <--Calming and communicating while giving subject feeling of control

and both of those sound better than a stain in your service record and a lawsuit or potential unemployment

The CIA, the FBI, and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals. The President decides to give them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest and each of them has to catch it.

The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations, they conclude that rabbits do not exist.

The FBI goes in. After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit and they make no apologies. The rabbit had it coming.

The LAPD goes in. They come out two hours later dragging a badly beaten bear. The bear is screaming, "Okay, okay! I'm a RABBIT!! I'm a RABBIT!!"

I dunno, some of the very best and very worst people I have known in my life were LEOs. When your experience has been largely with the best of the LEOs you can't believe anything like this was unprovoked. However, when the bulk of your experiences has been with the worst of the LEOs, you were surprised the guy didn't get shot.

Ultimately the officer needed to handle that situation better, something tells me he wandered into an Army bar and got tossed at some point or something similar.

Slow down, take a deep breath and have a tall glass of water. This "incense" stuff you keep referencing in every one of your posts has gotten out of control, I'd suggest cutting dosage on that as well. A few spelling and/or grammar lessons just might help you get your point across a bit better.

No but they should be respectful and professional, even when faced with someone acting like a douche bag. As evident by our continued efforts to be respectful of your posts and viewpoints. Yes we are a rather sarcastic bunch, but we enjoy our mental gymnastics with words and imagery. Who knows maybe we watched a bit too much Bugs Bunny as kids.

The more police that behave with the Judge Dredd mentality of "I AM THE LAW," the less respect they will receive from the civilian populace and the worse off it will be for everyone.

Some cops go to work, do their job unprofessionally act like shitheads, bring disgrace to the Uniform, themselves and us. You hear about these guys. AS WE SHOULD. They should be outed for the shitheads they are. There should be no place for them in Law Enforcement or public service. But, the incessant need to protect and defend the shithead officers is stupid. Stick up for the Law Abiding, respectable OFFICERS, and let the bad ones be trampled.

Damn well put!

I keep thinking of your avatar when i read this! Nice.............. Hey breather take a look at it, i think you might like it! Cool isn't it...... (sarcasm junior warrior wit)

The cops good or bad should not have to put up with retarded shit just because they're cops..

Doesn't everybody in every job have to put up with retarded shit? You sound like the guy complaining about having to be nice to customers.

Way out of line. Force not necessary. Doucher or not. Charges warranted.

Finally sat down to watch the video. Completely unacceptable behaviour on the officer's part. He should be charged for that assault.

Douche is a douche', but part of an officers job is to deal with the public, without beating everyone down.

Well said! Exactly what I was thinking... A good cop would have asked the guy to calm down, try to defuse the situation; was there a need for force? So the kid got lippy and took a "threatening posture," I'm sure cops experience that all the time and don't need to make physical contact every single time. I can sympathize with the LEO's position, they deal in bad situations all day, but physical contact is not the best option for this instance without escalation. He wasn't "losing control" of the situation from what I saw, so there was no need to strike the kid and pin him down to "maintain" said control... [Shake]

Agreed. He didn't step to the cops, the cops stepped to him. He wasn't threatening, although the U.S. Soldier respect me comment was total douche.... Reservist combat engineering was it? WTF.. respect me.. I move equipment. Big cop/Marine taking a shot at a "soldier" cause he can? IDK... that seemed a little rediculous.
