Friday my roommates invited some friends to our apartment. Somehow they had a conversation about the Pacific War. One of the friends said this:"I think the Japanese had a good reason to bomb Pear Harbor, because we dropped a Atomic Bomb on them as field testing."

Should I say more.......

Your friends are way ahead of many! At least they knew it was the Japanese! Did you ever watch "Jay Walking" on the Tonight Show? [ROFL2]

Actually, I'm not friends with any of them, all three of my roommates are random roommates assigned by the lease office.

They really have it all wrong, after Lincoln freed the Hawaiians they revolted at the battle of Pearl Harbor, where they poured the Tea into the bay. Japan only got involved because when they found out about all the tea going to waste they planned Operation Desert Storm to oust Ho Chi Min from the North of Nam to the South. The Bomb was dropped on Tokyo to distract us from the Nazi's invading Iraq for oil. The bomb was nearly disarmed by Capt. McGyver but since the paper clip was not until 1899 they still managed to drop it from the Spruce Goose.
we only got involved in the war when we heard that Weapons Of Mass Destruction were being stored in Berlin.
Kids these days. What the hell are they teaching them nowadays?

Revisionist historians are already re-writing history and making us the bad guys: Dresden, Hamburg, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, etc. Never mind that the Japanese murdered 20 MILLION Chinese during their invasion/occupation of China. Never mind that Germany terror bombed in Spain, Poland, France, Holland, England, Russia, etc. America is the bad guy who should have been above these things. I find it amusing that Demorats got us involved in WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, etc. Lotta blood on those liberal hands.

Finally someone who knows that the Japanese invaded China and murdered millions. Those kid think that China and Japan was one country like USSR before the end of WW2.

I would wager a fair sum of money few if any College folks these days have ever even heard of the AVG (American Volunteer Group, not the anit-virus), or Burma, or have any idea why McArthur retreated from the Philippines and set up shop in Ozzie land.

Its a sad state of affairs when kids these days have more BS classes than meaningful US History

When I was in Japan I went to the Tokyo Museum. Their WWII display made the Americans the aggressor and they were innocent people who were attacked and had no choice but to fight back.

They also do not know that the Chinese bought tons of war materiel including outdated planes, cannons, guns, and other weapons along with medicines, food, etc. not just from the .gov themselves, but from companies like Curtis, Brewster, Douglas, etc. that at the US military at the time was not buying, because we were nearly at war in Europe but for some stupid reason were not buying anything, causing those companies to struggle. The Chinese Prime Minister begged the US for direct support and FDR was such an asshat that he listened to his advisors who assured him there was no threat to the US from the Japanese Imperial forces and instead concentrate on helping our allies in Europe. Fortunately, some Army Air Corp generals-there was no Air Force back then- who KNEW the Japanese were going to be trouble helped the Prime Minister to recruit one of the best aerial tacticians- Claire Lee Chenault, to form a squadron of American pilots- the AVG- to provide the Chinese with crucial air support which was a huge factor in the Chinese being able to eventually push the Japanese out.
But the important facts are that the Chinese came to us, our President and his advisors told him to politely fuck off, and yet the Chinese supported our crappy economy which helped our war in Europe.

Hell, bet half these braniacs out there these days do not even know what a China Marine is. Or have a clue about the war in Africa, or that there even was a war in Africa. All they know about is the Jews being killed in Germany and France, with no knowledge of the Japanese atrocities in the Pacific.

Very very sad, so much of our history being revised to paint us as bullies and oppressors, when the truth is if not for the US, Europe would be very different place right now.

Ask ANYONE under 35 if the US has ever put people in Mass Graves or concentration camps in the US.

we are, simply put, the best flawed option

Claire Lee Chennault's(陈纳德) squad are called "飞虎(Flying Tigers)", they used P-48s with a shark face painted on them. It very well thought out of him to translate his name to Chinese but still sound like the English. Unfortunately this part of history is not been taught in China much anymore, history is written by the victorer, and the Communist won.

I lived outside of Tokyo for 3 years. I went to the Atomic Bomb Museum in Hiroshima several times when family and friends came to visit. I actually thought they were very open and pretty impartial there. I never saw a WWII exhibit in Tokyo, so I can't compare. WWII was a very humbling experience for Japan. If I could take my guns with me, I would be perfectly content living there the rest of my life.

My head exploded when I read what the OP said. I was telling people at school how the Japanese used to eat each other and war prisoners and they were blown away. Not many younger people realize how truly evil the Japanese military was.

I LOVE Japan. Going there was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I would live there in a heartbeat.

Another tweak on history I witnessed in my travels. At Invalides in Paris (Napoleon's tomb) they have a WWII display. After seeing it you would think the French Resistance won the entire war all by themselves.
