View Full Version : Criterion Barrels, Anybody use them?
I have been looking for an 18in barrel to finish my back-up 3 gun rifle. I really want one of the Nordic comp 18in barrels, but I don't know when or if they will be back in stock. I found a place that has a similar 18" Criterion barrel in stock. I have not heard anything about Criterion barrels, so if you have used them let me know what you think.
Thanks

Good, no great, barrels.
Just to clarify (and make sure tha wan't a typo), the Criterions are great barrels in your experience? Just curious since I recently picked up a Criterion barrel (18.5'' chrome-lined .308 match barrel) but haven't mounted it yet. I went out on a limb and picked it up since it was available (and the Rainier UltraMatch I was looking for wasn't), but would prefer to sell it and wait if they're sub-par...
Thanks
In my opinion, the Criterion .308 barrels are the best of the lot. Their 18" .223 barrles are very good and for practical 3 Gunning, you can't outshoot a Cirterion nor the Nordics. The Nordic is my design, and their are a few little tweaks that make it better in terms of the gas system. They should be back in stock by the end of the month. There wil be some slight velocity and recoil impules differences between the two so if you are trying to match the primary ARs barrel, then I would wait on the Nordic. If the primary has somehting else, 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
Criterion barrels are a spin-off company that started as a division of Krieger barrels. They are now a sister company- but the guys that make Krieger barrels are the guys that developed cCriterion. I've got several M14 chrome lined barrels and they stack up to be as good or even a little better than USGI M14 barrels. They are absolutely one of the top makers in the U.S. You will not go wrong with one of their products.

They are excellent barrels.
