did you guys participate in the "train up" activities?
how strenuous was the physical?
whats the pistol portion like?

I don't know of anyone here who did the train up. It seems like it is mostly for newer competitors. The match is not real bad. I would liken it to 3 days of the NRA Sprting Rifle Match. Last year the handgun was pretty easy, large targets well within pistol range.

We stayed at a local dive last year. Not much for after parties. A bunch of guys met up at the White Horse last year the night before the last day of shooting. Frank and George Gardner bought out a BBQ place and brought all the food over...had a good time drinking a few beers and chowing down.

The Colorado crew got together one of the other evenings for dinner and some good BS'ing.

Wouldn't miss it. There are a bunch of guys going. Most of the consistent crew that hits the NRS SRM, Hoser's Pdog and the CRC LR match. Good group of folks.

Hi guys,

The idea was to keep the physical aspect under control. We had a couple things that "negatively rewarded" being out of shape, but it is not meant to be a fitness event at all. The shooting was very hard, much harder than the SRM.

There was only one stage that had anything physical about it. Other than that it was about locating, ranging and reading the wind.

I agree.

Walking up to a stage and seeing that the close target was over 900 yards away was a kick in the balls.

I only cleaned one stage for the whole match.

Just a teaser, we have access to even MORE LAND for the 2013 match.

Damnit! I was hoping to go at least check it out this year, but I'm getting married that weekend in TN, I wonder how much trouble I would get in if I did go?!

He won't say it, but Hoser took 3rd, I think.
