View Full Version : Toilet Paper: Over or Under
Ok so to me, and many others, its obvious that when you replace the roll of toilet paper you mount it so the paper dispenses over the top of the roll. But yet for some reason you still see someone mount it under, you wonder to yourself "what are these people thinking".....
So how do you mount?
over. it is easier to roll the paper out .

Over, it's easier, and that's the way the First Sergeant wanted it. My wife always puts it on "under" and it drives me crazy. I know it really shouldn't bother me, though.

This.
It bugs me so much I turn them around the right way.
It's also what they teach in Butler school (too much educational TV). Ever notice how hotels do it? That's right. Over the top.
The only problem is cats. Cats will fuck your shit up if you put them over.
I go with over.
However I have a neighbor that has a couple cats that has to do it under or the cats will entertain themselves unrolling and playing with the paper.

Over, ex wife used to insist over and I would mess with her in the middle of the night and put it under. She liked to just hit the roll, like a cat does, and have a slice roll off easy.

Over... and I need some of this paper.
Seems to bra left brain/right brain thing.
Men usually do it the right way and go over.

There was a discussion on this subject here about 2 or 3 years ago. Can't find it though. Over.

LOVE the Obama paper. Funny. I've always been an "OVER" guy. Sometimes I would even "fix" other people's rolls. I'm justified because any paper with a design makes it obvious that over is correrct.
However, there is at least one BIG advantage to "under," just ask any dog owner!
Over. Just put a roll in after my constitutional this morning.
am I the only one that leaves it sitting on top of the tank or on the edge of the sink instead of the hanger?

I doubt your the only one.
So time for a thread hijack: Do you have the paper set on top of the tank unwinding clockwise or counter-clockwise?
When I'm running low on Berry TP I switch to this to remind me to go shopping...also over.

How do I mount...... usually over, but just to give Mrs Dingo some variety, I'll go under sometimes.
Under you heathens, over can result in an over application of precious resources and is less tactical duh
What is this toilet paper you speak of? I just use the cat and she hates both over and under.
I've heard of people putting it under so their cats don't unravel it, but I don't have a cat so it doesn't matter.

OVER!!! Under makes no sense. I dont know why but it really bugs me.
http://gossipextra.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/obama-toilet-paper.jpg
This is the best example when using the term "Shit Tickets" to describe tp.
Butt, that's the wrong way! The Good Lord intended for asswipe to go behind, or under, however you want to call it. So that when thou tearest the paper, it tears off cleanly, without spinning another three feet of it onto the floor, which it surely does when hung over the front.
'Tis written in The Book....hey, look it up. It's in the Outhouse Etiquette section.
Over but i usually leave it on the towel rack.

Neither, it sits on the counter. I have not installed the hanger in the side of the cabinet, much to the chagrin of my wife.

Last time I had to spend a day in a hospital room, while taking a leak in the rooms bathroom, I noticed some spots on the wall behind the toilet paper. These appeared to be some urine spots from the previous guy "shaking the dew off his lily". When the paper was fed the WRONG way, it frequently would move against the wall and possibly, just possibly, slide against those urine spots. With all the diseases around, especially In a hospital, the wrong way sure appeared TO ME to be risky. So, let's do it correctly and feed the paper spool the proper (right) way. Hell, it's just a little common sense.

You should have included a "which ever way I happen to grab the roll and put it on the holder" as an option.
For the life of me I can't understand why people get so bent out of shape over which way the roll gets put on ... seriously that's some top level OCD BS right there.
Hell, my wife is about as OCD as they come without it impairing her ability to get along and even she doesn't care which way it goes on.

On a side note, "Under" (aka "Wrong") works better for cat owners.

Doesn't EVERYONE have a bidet?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bidet
A bidet (US pron.: /bɨˈdeɪ/ or UK /ˈbiːdeɪ/) is a low-mounted plumbing fixture or type of sink intended for washing the genitalia, inner buttocks, and anus.
Looks like we do have some "progressives" on here after all, granted only a few...
Over. Fortunately, my cats only display interest in the rolls when they are NOT on the hanger or are put 'under', which tells me they agree that 'over' is the only acceptable choice.

Under when you have little ones that like to unroll it. Backwards doesn't come un rolled!
I hate it when it is under.

Over lol. But on the bowl without a roll! Damn it.
None of you better come to my house and need to take a shit, that's all I can tell ya......'cause I keep 'em ALL loaded on the BACK! Or "under", whoever thought that one up.
I can tear on one handed if it's under. And my 2 year old is like a cat. My true preference is on the tank, not even on the holder.
