“This is Andre Pearson. It’s focused for and designed for children of color, but certainly, if we have space for other kids who have needs, we can definitely meet those needs,” Pearson told Cox in the voicemail.

How can we go straight to the top and check for voter fraud. They seem like they don't care about pissing people off because they are going to get reelected again somehow. I'm thinking voter fraud.

Well said. I don't think this is what MLK had in mind.
Let me remind you. Welcome to California #2.
Most in demand community college programs in California have a wait list that can be several years long for non minority (white) students. California schools have countless minority only (non white) clubs.
Funny. I lived in this neihborhood 25 years ago. My brother went to that school. It was a good place to live. If you had the same policy back then, they would have had no program at all.

White, Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and anything in between I believe qualify as "Color".
Never seen a "Clear" kid........

I find myself thinking this more and more by the day. It truly makes me sad.
I find it funny that people are so frightened of being branded a "racist". Where i grew up race fights were something that happened. I have no problem with anybody of any race, however I do not share the same values as some of the other races. Everybody may be the same, but our cultures are not. To be honest I wouldn't want my kid (that I don't have) in a program that was designed for other races anyways.

No "race" has any specific set of values. I don't have the same values as many other hispanics (or whites, or blacks.)

So long as we see this guy reprimanded and, hopefully, out of a job soon, I don't see too big a problem.

the problem is that if it was reversed this would be on CNN and the president would have to invite someone over for a beer to chat.

There has long been a double standard, you can only be racist if you are white
While i whole heartedly agree that racism caused lots of issues, our agressive need to correct our wrongs has gone long past making sense
I'm pretty livid about this. This is blatant discrimination against race. I own a property that feeds directly to that elementary school which means my property tax is being spent to fund racist programs.

[MOD: Where's the "Like" button?]
I really don't think this was racism, I think they just thought it was easier to pass it off as a white vs color issue because the media always sides with the non white point of view. This is really about dumbasses. The reality is dumbasses know they are dumb and the thing that highlights it for them more than anything else is to bring a non dumbass in their midst. The side by side comparison is like a 10million lumen LED. It even occurs around here from time to time.[Coffee]
I just wrote a letter to the superintendent of Cherry Creek Schools and demanded the immediate termination of Mr. Pearson for his violation of public trust. Allocating tax payer resources to a program that discriminates against children based on the color of their skin is a blatant violation of public trust.
If no action is taken against the racist principal I may have to lawyer up, I'm not going to tolerate my money being used to fund a racist principal's agenda.

My question is... how do they determine of "color"" When I was in the Corps, they used to have us fill out forms that asked ethnicity. I always left it blank or told them I was african American. They of course would get all pissed off about that. I would tell them my parents were from Johannesburg, SA. They said that didnt make me african. I have actually been to africa. How many colored Americans have actually been to africa? their parents ? grand parents? great grandparents? to call people african American after this many generations is a joke. (a bad joke) just because you have skin that is pigmented darker than others, doesnt make you african. Either we are all Americans or we will all fail. How can they say who is colored? some people like RMAC are multi ethnic. (who isnt). so does that count? or do you have to be a certain shade of color? is hale berry to light or is danny glover too dark? its all bullshit. people need to grow past all this color and race bullshit.

So sad this is the world we live in now... Your crazy, tell me again how black culture is the exact same and has the same values that Asian culture or Hispanic culture or white culture has. They are all different and to deny that shows your ignorance. Just like everything else there is exceptions. Let me explain it to you another way since everybody get afraid when racial issues come up. People that grow up in cities, have different values then people who grow up on a farm.

See these are the kinds of stories that make me worry. There's been plenty of bullpuckey spewed from the mouths of liberals here in CO for years, but it stopped at words. Now these asshats feel emboldened enough to start acting as if they have no fear or reprecussion. Is it because they don't believe there are consequences? Or is it because they have a fix on the game? Better go make another tin hat...my current one is getting worn out.

I heard a letter written into a program the other day from an Asian man. He was wondering why white people here in the US seem to suffer from "white shame". He mentioned that in Japan there is no Japanese shame, no Mexican shame in Mexico, and no white shame in Europe. So why here? It's gone too far. I'm glad the parents said something. The only way people are going to stop seeing color is if they stop teaching this stuff to their kids. I'm glad I grew up in a very diverse community where we could mention our color without feeling bad.

Touché. His post rubbed me the the wrong way. I don't understand how people obsess over such ridiculous garbage. I'm sure we all agree that the principle is an idiot. The whole "They're out to get us!" schtick gets a bit old. Generally speaking, it's hard to characterize an entire race or group of people by the actions of a few.....or is Diane Feinstein suitable ambassador.

Come on guys. Same team.
Let me clarify the point that I'm trying to make. I'm saying that different cultural differences coupled with different geographical areas result in people seeing the world differently. For instance where I grew up, I lived right near the Mexican American border. Since that time the population of Mexican Americans in that area has quadrupled. In that region of Mexico, it's common place to have corrupt officials, from the police on upward. Now where I used to live, there are more and more problems with corruption. Is this something limited to this part of America? No, of course not, but the majority of the population there see it as so big deal and the way that it is. Why is it? I believe that it is because of cultural and geographical differences. While we are all capable of having the same culture of Americans, more often it is divided in to races of people. I don't dislike people for simply being a certain race, that would be foolish, but i hate the certain cultures, of welfare, drugs, gangs and problems no matter what the races of the people. Maybe you don't understand that me having to put that I'm a white male on form that I fill out is infuriating. People get into college easier because of their race is infuriating That you get asked what your race is if applying for government assistance. A class survey that I have to fill out in school asks how the instructor treated minorities and women. No mention of me. People can rise above the cultural differences, but a lot of them don't. Saying that we are equal is correct we are, but saying we are all the same is absolutely false.

I agree... Here's a perfect example- While I was in BCT and AIT in the Army back in '06/ early '07, I noticed an alarming trend, two different groups of people, at two different bases on different sides of the country (MO vs AZ)- the blacks would segregate themselves from the whites and have their own clique, meanwhile, the whites integrated with like minded people regardless of skin color (the country folks congregated with country folks, the city guys tended to stick together), but for the most part, a large portion of the black soldiers (granted not all of them, but enough to form groups) ran together exclusively with no whites, Hispanics, or Asians. I also noticed that although we were all equal, treated by the command and instructors as if we were all the same rank and color, this "self-segregated" group acted as if they didn't have to participate in the daily chore roster or detail rotations...

When was the last time you ever heard of a company that has a quota of hiring white people? Or actively seeking white males. Or a contractor that hires and employs a high percentage of white men.
Another for instance large companies have gay and lesbian support groups, black people support groups, latino people support groups, women expecting babies support groups, women in general support groups. There is NOT on boring ass white dude group. You know, cause that's racist, but in 'your' opinion we're on top so we don't need support right? So you better slow your roll homeboy. Looks to me like the principal f'd up big time, and the school district is pretty embarrassed about the whole thing. The thing that made me perk my ears up was the part in the news segment that stated there seem to be a whole lot more going on, and they will continue with the story. I'd like to know what's going on.
I don't have children. Did annyone else think, "a ten-year-old needs tutoring?" From the sounds of it, there's a LOT of kids that need tutoring there, which makes me wonder if they're not needing an interim class or something.
The last time I remember hearing "of Color" was when Bloom County ran the comic strips that had the debate of "It's 'People of Color' now, not 'colored people.'" Crazy!
