So about two weeks ago I see that Natchez has Hornady 55gr fmjbt bullets in stock. Order myself 1k of them, got my shipment notification a few days ago, everything looking good. Today I have a box on my porch, pick it up it is light as a feather. The top of the box isn't opened, but there is a gap on the side that I can get my hand in. I open it up and the box contains brown packing paper, a packing slip for the 10 packs of 100 bullets, and nothing else. It would be a stretch but technically there was enough room for the bags of bullets to fall out, but there is no way all 10 bags found there way out. So essentially they shipped them without actually packing the bullets or someone reached their hand in the box and took them out. I have never had something like this happen but I imagine I need to file a claim with both Natchez and UPS. What a pain in the ass, I am going to have to jump thru hoops to file the claim, then have to either get my money back or no telling how long the wait will be to get another 1k shipped. I'm lucky enough to already have some projectiles to load, but I just want my damn bullets!! Rant over...

Call your credit card company first. A lot of times they'll temporarily suspend or take the charge off your account while they investigate the transaction. That's one of the few reasons I like to use my AmEx for online purchases. They're like little nazis when it comes to investigating customer complaints and they always take the charge off my account until they/I resolve the problem.

But it still sucks that happened.

Yep. They really are like a pack of rabid dogs when it comes to their customer getting screwed on a purchase. I use an AmEx for every retailer that will accept it.

Ditto. Amex has always come through for me.

I know this is a little off topic here, but am thinking about getting a different credit card and American Express is one of my options but I have never had them before. Had both Master Card and Visa. How would you say they compare?

BTW, I'm sorry for the hijack, OP. Not much I can contribute to a resolution that you haven't already said you were going to do aside from one thing I have learned after being burned on a couple of shipments -

Photograph that bitch the second you even think something might be wrong with the package. If it is banged up, shoot it. If it is torn, shoot it. If it feels light, shoot it. And shoot it alot from every angle. Specifically focusing on the tape so there is proof it wasn't opened up and re-taped.

Even something like a TV can be trashed if it has even a small puncture in the box (happened to me). If a signature is involved for any shipments, don't sign until you're satisfied with the condition of the box.

Company's know how they ship and package things and they'll be able to tell if it is their bad from good photographs.

I know it doesn't help you much now because you stated you opened it to investigate, but if you order things regularly it will most likely happen again. Take pics.

Good luck on a resolution.

Sorry to keep spamming the thread -

Alot of mom & pop shops won't take it because their rates to sellers are higher than all of the other cards. But on the consumer end, they are the best in my opinion. AmEx for large purchases and mail order. Visa or MC for everything else. Diner's Club if you're like this [fag]

SAVE THE BOX.

YOU cannot file a claim with UPS. Only the shipper can do that. Notify the store and they will notify UPS who will send someone and they will ask for the box. Think of it as evidence.

No matter how it plays out, you ordered something and didn't receive it so you should be made "whole" one way or the other. If the store gives you a hard time then do the credit card chargeback. You have 120 to 180 days, depending on your credit card company.

No comparison really. You're dealing directly with Amex and not getting it issued through a bank or other processor. They will 100% stand behind the consumer. It's not necessarily true that they have higher merchant rates. That is negotiable with the merchant's processor. I once paid a $21k medical bill with it. Many retailers don't like accepting Amex BECAUSE they almost always side with the consumer in a dispute. I've never not paid my balance in full, even though they now offer that option to me. The wife and I took a cruise on my Amex points last year. I pay everything I possibly can with it including business expenses, I just wish I could pay my mortgage with it and didn't have to use the mandatory corporate Amex account for air travel.

Apologies to the OP for the threadjack.

Just got off the phone with Natchez. The guy was great, apologized for the inconvenience, said that he is turning it over to their internal billing where they are going to refund me my charge with 5-8 business days. I will follow up if I have any trouble, but very pleased with my initial response.
