View Full Version : Gun Free Zone Hypocrisy

Posted this on Fields and Morse's Facebook, and emailed it to the wavering Democratic reps:

I notice that at every entrance to every courtroom and legislature is a sign that says “Gun Free Zone” or something similar. This notice is also posted at the entrance to school where I drop off my children every morning. Yet every courtroom and every building has metal detectors, armed guards and quite likely undercover security with concealed handguns to protect this “gun free zone”. I’ve yet to see any metal detectors, armed guards or alert looking men in suits protecting my children’s school.

The presence of armed security, both overt and covert, at the Colorado House of Representatives, the Senate and the Capitol tells me that each and every elected official knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that gun free zones don’t work, that they only be safe with armed guards and men with concealed weapons. We know that they know that gun free zones don’t work, as those who support anti-gun laws continually bring up the recent tragedies where madmen entered gun free zones in Aurora and Connecticut to kill unprotected civilians. We don’t see any of these leaders willing to give up their own overt and covert security that protect them in “gun free” safe zones, yet they’re focusing their efforts and our tax dollars to make sure that our children are forbidden to enjoy that same level of protection.

Why do Colorado Democrats hate our children so much?

Well said. If the lawmakers had to debate the current gun bills in a gun free zone similar to what is in the schools, I wonder if they would vote differently.

It is hypocracy and its frustrating they want to take away our ability to CCW on college campuses. I'm a veteran, in my 30's and value my safety and yet you got democrats thinking everyone going to college are irresponsible kids who get drunk all the time. Then you've got anti-gun teachers ranting about how schools are about learning and guns don't belong there. My school doesn't have armed security and even if legislation passed I'd argue I'll keep CCW until the school has proper security that I feel safe because we all know how well these "gun free zones" deter mass shootings....

Here is what my wife faxed the house dems today.
No on HB 1224, 1226, 1228, 1229

I am a woman and law abiding gun owner. I am fearful of being gang raped and murdered on a college campus because the Lawmakers of Colorado decided that 15 was a reasonable limit on ammunition magazines and banned concealed carry on campus. Vote no on gun legislation and allow me to protect myself.
