Grandma slipped at the pool today and dropped Izzy from a standing height!
I got the call at about 11 to meet the paramedics at the pool. Fun call!! [Rant1]
So I have her here at the ER. We just got out of CT. Should have some info in about 30. Vitals and visuals are all normal! She is acting like her cute little self!!! Phew! She's got a helluva bump on her little dome though!!!!
What are dads for!!

Glad to see she's going to be alright! Always a heart stopper when they have a hard spill like that.

Thank God those little noggins aren't fully "hard" yet! Soft & pliable is good... Glad she's OK. What a heart-stopper...
She's a cutie, I'm sure all will be fine. At that age there rubber..

Glad she is alright! I bet poor grandma is feeling awful over it too
They are resilient little buggers!
Here is mine, she was 1.5 years. Fell from counter height right onto her elbow. She broke her arm just before the growth plate and a partial dislocated shoulder.... She was using it like nothing happened after 1-2 weeks!!!!!

As a Dad with an accident prone daughter that is now 20 years old. I feel your pain. Many times in the ER with her after an accident. It is also true that at that age they are very bendable and very resistant to hard knocks.
Glad she's alright and I think she deserves an ice cream and so does Grandma so she knows you don't blame her either.

Thanks everyone!
We are just relaxing right now. Still waiting for the CT results.
She has been a brave little chicky!! Only a few tears when we strapped her in for the CT.

I had to take my youngest daughter to surgery with in three weeks of being born. She had something called pilar stenosis. So she basically starved for the first 3 weeks of life. Thank god for baby fat. She was not holding down any food and steadily loosing weight. We kept going in and finally had a doc who just didn't treat us like idiots and try to tell us how to feed our SECOND child.
As soon as diagnosised they tried to start an IV (very difficult on a dehydrated infant) and sent us by ambulance to National Children's Hospital in DC. I got to follow behind while mom rode with our daughter. We then spent the next three days living in a room three while they operated. She was operated on the same day we showed up with in hours so you can bet it was bad.

Wow, glad things look like she'll be fine. I onow that if my 4 month old took a spill like that I'd be in full on crisis mode.
That is some scary stuff. Glad she is okay. Grandmas are dangerous. Might have to ban them soon.
Been there done that. Glad to hear she is ok.

Glad to hear she's OK. I know that sort of thing can be a heart stopper!
When my daughter was about 2 my big dog (128 pound shepherd mix) accidentally knocked her down the stairs; my daughter went all the way over and landed on a step, head down, before continuing to finish her fall. Luckily it was a short flight of stairs (tri-level house) and after the panicked trip to the hospital, she turned out to be OK too. But I still remember the whole slo-mo thing as I watched her go over backward and I couldn't move fast enough to catch her...[panic]
Can't imaging getting that call... glad she is fine, you can chalk that one up and there will be plenty of more

Thanks again everyone!!!!
To update the thread again...... CT was normal, we released at 3. Have a check up with her primary doc tomorrow.
And......
since I dropped her off at home at 3pm, 3.5 hrs later when I got home the swelling was down at least 50% on her bump, if not more!!!

Glad she is okay. Reminds me of a similar story that happened to my good friend.
Grandma was bouncing his one year old son on her knee. The boy slipped off and hit his head on the hard wood floor. They went to the hospital as you did and they had a cat scan. Turns out they found a brain tumor that was operable at the time. From what I understand, in a year or two, it would not have been operable and he would have died. Had grandma not dropped him on his head, he would have been dead two years later. Pretty crazy.
Again, sure glad your little girl is doing well.
Jeeezz...makes me cringe thinking about it. Glad she is okay
Saw this late, but checked just to make sure all was okay. Glad to hear it.

Glad she is OK! They are pretty rubbery and bounce well. Hope it's the last one, but probably not!

Wife just took the Izzz in for a check up.
Everything looks GREAT!
Just need to still watch for anything out of the ordinary and vomiting for a few days.
Really didn't like that call yesterday hearing it was my daughter!
Thanks for the replies Gents! [Beer]
