I am going to offer my Mass Violence Planning and Response class to teachers and other school officials for free in the near future. I am in need of a venue that can hold 20-50 (maybe more depending). Free would be great, but I am willing to spend a little bit. It will be an 8 hour class probably on a Saturday. I am fed up with the worthless ideas offered by school districts. Teachers and admin need real solutions and solid Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude to react to a Mass Violence incident. Those of you who know me and know my full time job will appreciate why I am doing this. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Is this classroom only and are you willing to travel to the Springs?

My wife is a teacher, please keep us up to date on this (I'd be interested as well), and if you're going to the Springs, I could likely help with a venue as well.

Thanks for doing this Chris, I appreciate it, and it is a desperate need.

You can use my office in Wheat Ridge. We have a big open area set up just for training.

I have no problem doing multiple sessions in different parts of the State. My biggest problem will be spreading the word to teachers. There are no real forums (like this one) to get info out. It will be word of mouth for the most part. It will be classroom only, anything else we may do can be accomplished in the classroom.

Thanks again for the support

If you want to do one at my office, I am sure I can basically fill it with my perosnal contacts in about 10 minutes. :)

Do you have a link to the course content? I may be able to find some teachers for you.

Those that have venue ideas I have sent PM's.

Here is the text from the flyer

As a teacher or administrator you are a first responder to a Mass Violence incident at your school. You will be called upon to ensure your students are as safe as you can possibly make them. It is important that you understand the dynamics of a Mass Violence incident and how you can have a positive influence on the outcome of the incident.

You will listen to police radio traffic from past incidents to hear the confusion that always surrounds Mass Violence incidents. You will see data and information from the Lessons Learned Information Sharing website used by the Department of Homeland Security. This course is a serious look at Mass Violence and some graphic information will be presented, again in an effort to not hide the reality of these deadly incidents. You are on the front line you need real information.

Threats and Trends
Background and Case Studies
Lessons Learned
Planning and Training
Incident Management
Asymmetric Thinking and Mindset

This is the same class I have done for Law Enforcement with LE Sensitive info removed and teacher specific info added.
Thanks

Just going to throw this out to you if you are looking to do another class somewhere down the road. D-20, Colorado Springs, might work with you for another class. I'm not sure but think they may be the only school district in the state that has armed security, retired LEO, military etc and the district seems to lean pretty far forward when it comes to security.
I live in D-20 but don't have any kids myself but have friends who do go to these schools. You might want to get in touch with the chief of security.

Just a thought...

I would like to get more signed up for this class, any ideas of where I could spread the word? I have spent 10 hours or so tweaking this class for schools and I am really enjoying the way it has turned out. Thanks all

Maybe contact Sheriff Maketa? His department is supportive of teachers getting training and CCW, and might have some contacts.

There is also that huge church on the north side of Springs where their own security stopped a shooter about 3 years ago. Can't recall which one it was, a quick google should find it.

Done facebook, most of my friends are out of state or already know most of this, the others believe unicorn farts will save everyone. The media is something I am trying to avoid for the time being, I really do not need the aggravation that would come from my full time employer.

It sounds like the Springs is a hotbed for something like this, most of you have talked about this. If anyone in the Springs has a site and wants to host a class I will set one up down there with you. If EPCSO is on board and ASD20 sounds good to go, there would be two big organizations to help spread the word. I sent info to ASD20 to see what kind of response I could get.

XJ it was New Life Church and it is one of the incidents that is covered in this class

Thanks all.

Canceling the Teacher class, not enough interest. I will have another option for everyone soon. Thanks
