Got this email from my brother in law David who is president of Outdoor Edge which is based in Colorado. As I mentioned in past posts there is going to be tremendous impact on Colorado if this crap passes in the long term.

Dear Ms. Aguilar:
My name is David Bloch and I am the president/owner of Outdoor Edge Cutlery Corp., a sporting goods manufacturer in Wheat Ridge, Colorado who employs 24 workers and with sales of $6.2 million in 2012. Outdoor Edge produces knives and accessories for the hunting and outdoor product market. www.outdooredge.com (http://www.outdooredge.com/)
I urgently request you vote against passing HB13-1224. This bill is nothing more that window dressing and will do nothing to save lives or deter crime. It will certainly turn tens of thousands of law abiding Colorado gun owners (who currently own these magazines) into felons and simply push business out of the state. It is very obvious that criminals will simply ignore this law and nothing will be done to deter crime if it passes. A criminal who illegally carries a gun with intent to harm others will care less about the fact that the 14 round magazine in that gun is also illegal.
Our customers are comprised 95% of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. I therefore am certain there will be negative backlash and financial consequence against Outdoor Edge if this bill passes. There is already much talk on the social network forums about boycotting purchases from Colorado companies and tourism to our state if this bill passes.
Please take note of what just happened last month in a directly related issue in Harrisburg, PA. Reed Expositions, the producer of “The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show” decided to ban the display of high capacity magazines and modern sporting rifles from the show. The result was the cancelation from widespread consumer backlash to boycott and hundreds of exhibitors pulling out from the largest consumer sport show in the country (300,000 plus in attendance).

Limiting magazine capacity and threatening law-abiding gun owners with possible confiscation and felony charges represents serious legislative overreach. As part of the 1994 "Assault Weapons" ban, the production of higher capacity magazines was halted. A comprehensive study by the Centers for Disease Control looked at the full panoply of gun-control measures, including this ban, and concluded that none could be proven to reduce crime. Another study, commissioned by Congress, found that bans were not effective since "the banned weapons and magazines were never used in more than a modest fraction of all gun murders."
Again I urge you to strike down this bill. Colorado manufacturers and good paying jobs are at stake. In these difficult economic times, the state cannot afford the kind of economic damage that this bill will inflict with no benefit in the outcome if it were to pass.
David Bloch

Therein lies the problem. We vote with our dollars. The state passes bad laws that cost people jobs and make businesses leave, or cause such a negative impact to these businesses that they close. It is a win win for the anti-firearm, anti-hunting, anti-personal freedom groups.

They set the table and we stab ourselves with the fork, because we don't like what they served.

when our voices are ignored what else is there to vote with?

nothing personal, but if the proposed legislation passes and you folks don't walk down, get a warrant and charge these guys with violations of their oaths of office, you get the economic impact and tyranny you deserve.

I am going down to the GA Assembly on Monday to remind my new political legislators of just that

I found this site which details the important parts of what Byte is saying. Good info.

Interesting, so while we have to deal with rhetoric of the definition of militia at the Federal level, CO has a clear definition. I do want to take another look at some of the wording for hb13-1224. Wonder if this is a useable loophole, until we can get this shit overturned.

Article XVII - Section 1 - Militia Persons subject to service. The militia of the state shall consist of all ablebodied male residents of the state between the ages of eighteen and fortyfive years; except, such persons as may be exempted by the laws of the United States, or of the state.

Go to Title 10 Chapter 13 (http://uscode.house.gov/download/pls/10C13.txt) of the US Code - Again it talks about The Milita. It talks about the two classes of Militia - Organized and Unorganized. I would really like to see a lawyer look at Title 10 and get some power behind that idea. I like it.
