Gerber F.A.S.T. Draw (fine edge)
Lots of great knives, I fingered a bunch at Rapid Fire Bunker today (great guys). However, few fit my need, in order of importance, for:
Assisted opening (offhand)
Tip up carry
No stupid safety's
Other than liner lock
I'll stick with the Flash II for now (safety removed), until I get to a point of EDC a fixed blade.

Check out a ZT 350. everything you're looking for. The price may seem a little high but Ive had nothing but positive results with the three ZTs I own. I needed a new back spacer for mine and ZT sent me two back spacers and a whole set of new hardware that I didn't need. all of this free of charge, didn't even have to pay shipping and I got it the mail four days after I called. awesome CS.

Kershaw Select Fire. Most practical aircraft mechanic knife I've ever found; I changed the bits out to what I specifically needed for our aircraft. I've used this thing every day for over a year now, not quite beating the hell out of it but it's been well used all over the world and it's still as solid as the day I bought it.

How do you like the yojimbo?
Like most knives Spyderco makes here in Colorado the Yojimbo2 really is excellent. Great design by Michael Janich (also from Colorado) if you like the Wharncliffe style blades, flawlessly executed by Spyderco. CPM S30V steel, steel liners, G10 scales, self adjusting compression lock, and it really fit the had well. I have carried the previous model Yojimbo for about 8 years. Couldn't be happier with them... although I find I really like the Manix 2 as well.

I've carried a parkerized Kershaw Blur, serrated, pretty much everyday for the past 5 years. It's seen everything from the ocean to the high country and been well used the entire way. Easily the best everyday knife I've ever owned.
Spyderco Endura 4. My first knife utilitarian knife. I never really noticed, until I started carrying a knife, how often I needed to use one.
Here is what I carry. Titanium and Carbon Fiber Henry knife. Damascus steel with safires. Damn sharp too [rockon]

Im a freaken knife nut. Locking blade is Spyderco harpy for the past two days, haven't carried it in a while. Otherwise its a native III when I'm off work and a benchmade griptillian when I'm working. Swiss army knife blue cadet in my pocket for when I don't want to scare people and a leatherman blast on my belt. But the leatherman's blade is barely uses. I mainly use it for the tools i could live with it not having a blade but I'll count the knife this time.

Here are my edc blades that I carry all of them have seen hard use besides the kershaw on the bottom that thing sucks its to thick and the blade is to small. And just recently I incorperated the leatherman wave with the pocket clip and I love it!!! I can keep the huge tactical blade in the right pocket and use the wave for the daily cutting task and all the other tools are extremely handy as well the clip makes it super easy to incorporate in my system it just rides in the left pocket. My favorites are the manix 2 and the emerson mini com

What I disliked was the Safety. The switch always disengaged the safety when I didn't want it to (in my pocket) and was a PITA to operate and stuck when I wanted it to open. Other than that it was a decent knife and got lots of use, and fit really comfy in my hand.

Completely agree, that safety completely ruins these knives. I never engage the safety, but it always seems to engage itself, not a good feature at all.

I really liked the grip too, and the balance, but that one point about the safety just ruins it... It is exposed to everything in the pocket, when I get things out or put things in my pocket the safety sometimes disengages, or engages, I never know at what state it is at.
The reason I bought it was the way the handle extended outward where the index finger is... almost like the handle makes it's own "hilt". It works well and feels solid in my hand. It has also opened in my pocket numerous times.
Not sure about the real deal thingy or whatever. It was labeled as genuine gerber, and I bought it at the BX. just the position of where the safety is is bad design. perhaps I got a bad batch with the engage/disengage issues.

In the past it's been an AO Kershaw Leek, before that several different SpyderCo's. I miss the plastic clips they used to have.
My current EDC is a Spyderco Tenacious. I use my knife daily for stupid stuff (cutting wires, scraping gaskets off metal parts, cutting sheets of cardboard laying on metal grating or concrete floors, and, of course, the typical screwdriver/pry bar duties) so I don't carry anything too expensive. It has held up well so far. I do have to sharpen it just about every day.

I've got a boker. It's a los banos in aus-8. I like their aus-8. It does stain but keeps a keen edge.
Boker makes some nice knives. They hire good designers. Parts quality is decent. Would work for work knife for sure.

CRKT M16-14Z. Had it for a decade now, great knife.
Held a Benchmade Griptillian and really liked it, but too large for my office dress attire. I liked the feel of the CRKT knives I held, a LOT, but they either had a dumb safety to close it, or a just as bad one to open it. Totall ruined the knives or I would have had one right now.

Spyderco clipit series. I have a pingo that I like a lot. Or even a manbug.
I went to Sportsmans and the Army Surplus store and held a bunch. I went to two pawn shops right next to each other. One had a bunch of China junk and the other one had mostly Spyderco and Benchmade. I picked up this Benchmade for $25. Basically the same size as what I already had, but a lot better quality. Sharpened up well also.

Looks like a 551s griptilian.
It's a lot smaller than a Griptillan and the marking is 556. I'll look it up. I'm curious how well I did on the price, considering they wanted $100+ on everything else.

Nice, I should have shown you my CRKT while I was over there. Even with dress clothes, it pretty much disappears and you definitely can't tell how much of a beast it is. It does have the auto lock feature, but with a little practice it is very easy to open & close with one hand. The way I have it set up, it opens on the draw like the wave feature.
If my carry piece wasn't already at 4'o'clock and I didn't have a tucked in shirt all the time, I'd probably pretty easily be able to carry a better EDC knife.

Yes, exactly! It's the right size and weight for me to EDC. My Emerson CQC-7 is too big and heavy to carry in the jeans pocket. The only thing I didn't like is the lanyard hole, too small and too close to the blade, almost useless.
I rotate between a Zero Tolerance 350 and a Benchmade Mini Rukus.
Curious about the comment about a CQC-7 being too bulky for EDC; it is on my shortlist along with a BM Rift.

Depends on how you carry it - on the belt it's OK, but in the pocket I find it a bit bulky.

The mini Grip was my first Benchmade. The only thing I didn't like was the serrations. I'd say $25 was a good deal.
If you are interested, I have a NIB CKRT M16-01S sitting on the shelf. 3" blade, liner lock and no serrations.
Currently out of money, but will remember when things settle down.
I just pre-ordered a Kershaw/Emerson CQC-4K and a CQC-5K from BladeHQ. I haven't bought this inexpensive (<$100 of a knife in many years. I am curious to see and feel how they turn out; never owned a Kershaw before.

I've recently "cut over" ;) to carrying a SOG Twitch XL assisted opening tanto. I absolutely love this knife! Sits low in my pocket, thin enough to not be in the way, big enough for any task, lightning fast to open, and a backlock instead of a liner lock, which while I've gotten used to them, aren't my favorite.

Kershaw SpeedSafe. 1670GBBLKST Ken Onion design.
Wicked fast deployment. I broke the tip off, my bad, I know better but needed to pry something and NOW, so, I re-ground the tip to a mini-tanto, and by mini I mean about 1/4". The only problem I have with the knife is the "anti-skid" tape on the body of the knife, it's chewing up my pants pocket. I thought the glass-breaker point on the end would play heck with the pocket, but apparently not so much!

Agreed, looks real nice!
Should have gone on to say
Knife sits really low in my pocket, not much is visible but the clip.
Clip holds pocket firmly, but no so firmly that I'm tearing up my pants when I clip it in place.
Profile of the knife is thin in the pocket, and is lightweight but not too much so, barely makes a dress pant pocket sag.
Fast easy opening with the flipper or thumb stud, has a back lock (which I prefer) instead of a liner lock that's back far enough to be out of the way but easy to access, also has a lock on the back lock to lock the blade open or closed.
Steel and build quality is superb, blade is nice and tight once open with almost no play.
Black "TiNi" coating on blade is very good, I've used it on some tough stuff and it barely shows any wear.
Handle material of black one feels like a thin piece of steel, coated seeming with the same stuff the blade is.
Wood version is just a tiny bit lighter than the black version, very nicely finished.
These cost about $65-$75ish on Amazon, and come in a variety of blade styles and finishes.
http://www.amazon.com/SOG-Knives-Twitch-Wood-Handle/dp/B00G31E2Z4
http://www.amazon.com/SOG-Knives-Twitch-Folding-Handle/dp/B009XN5V6I
Mine are the XL model with a 3.25" blade. There's also a smaller SOG Twitch model available with a 2.65" blade.
ONLY drawbacks I've been able to find are that the handle is a bit wide (not thick) in pocket, narrowing the pocket opening access slightly more than I'm used to (maybe 1/4 inch?). And secondly, because clip allows the knife to sit so low in the pocket, getting it out takes a little bit different technique than I'm used to.

4562545623Oh yeah, for the tiny pocket tool, the Victorinox swiss army knives are hard to beat. I've been carry one since about that same time, although I replace it periodically with the same model as the scissors dull and things loosen. My favorite is the "Manager" model. That, the SOG, and an ITP A3 EOS mini CREE light (amazingly bright, 4 modes, and uses a AAA battery!) live in my pocket every day. Leaves me prepared for most anything.

Finally got the balls to get rid of the thumb stud on my Leek and install a zip tie to create the "wave" feature. I had to dremel one side of the thumb stud off in order to get a straight - ish side to press out the stud. I nicked the blade a little, but as a carry knife, I don't mind. A while ago I modded it by drilling and tapping a new hole to be able to use a low rider clip. It requires very little force on the zip tie, and the assisted open kicks in. Holy shit, this knife deploys fast!

I did just find something out though. The thumb stud acts as a brace for the blade. With it removed, and the blade is open and locked, I can still wiggle the blade up & down a tiny bit. (About a millimeter) it doesn't affect the engagement of the lock, it's still nice & strong. But the blade isn't completely SOLID in place. I might try using a bigger zip tie & see if I can get the same effect.
Edit: BOOM there we go! It might still wiggle a couple thousandths of an inch, but good enough for me. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05/22/f230c424cd6e487e37195eba328c0c5d.jpg

Just ordered the Blackwash Cryo2 today-poor man's ZT : 59790
Got it over the weekend-a few issues which I think I addressed and hopefully resolved. Appearance and finish good out of the box, super sharp.
Issues-pivot was so tight it wouldn't open(loosening it up to work affected the blade alignment big time) Frame lock takes 2 hands to function.
Flipper is working much better now and able to tighten up pivot which improved the blade alignment (break in I guess). Frame lock is still a lot harder to operate than it should be. Conclusion:$40 knife made in China-I suppose it could have been a lot worse.
A gerber pocket knife and a husky utility knive
The last year I have carried nothing other than a Benchmade Griptillian, Gerber folding box knife (for those jobs where I don't care about the blade edge and I just need to cut stuff), and a Fenix LD12. Haven't needed to change it up. I love carrying a utility knife alongside my regular blade.
Kershaw/Emerson CQC-7 or Ontario Knives RAT-2. I'm all about inexpensive blades that function properly. I figure I'd rather spend my extra money on more ammo.

Clinch Pick on the belt and a small Swiss Army for chores. If I'm in more formal clothing I have a Spyderco Pikal clipped to an RCS Pocket Shield.

Manix G10 FFG
Yup! Bought it a couple months ago, and so far it's my favorite EDC. Also my first Spyderco.

I love that knife. I need one in my life
Just Amazon'ed that same knife, got it in the mail yesterday as a b-day gift for the boy. Off to Coloradogunwrites this afternoon for a little B-day engraving.
Seems like a very nice knife, wish I had one for myself!
I happen to be a Spyderco dealer, and as of 1/2/16, you won't be seeing the same sort of deals on Amazon due to implementation of a MAP policy.
Advertised prices will not be allowed to be more than 40% off of MSRP. Dealers can sell at any price they desire. I can meet pretty much anyone's deal on their knives...[Flower]
ETA: I'm also qualified as a "Restricted Item" dealer, so if you're active military or LEO, I can order their automatics for you (although they're currently on back order).
My current EDC is a crappy Spyderco Tenacious. I hate that thing. I would carry something nicer if I didn't use my knife as a screwdriver/pry bar/gasket scraper/hammer on a daily basis.

Interesting, I didn't even know they made autos. I may have to take a look at their offerings, and hook up with you.

Great EDC knife and won't break the bank. I found my Cryo2 needed a little break in but was fine after that.
The Kershaw Cryo2 looks pretty nice other than I am not a huge fan of the frame lock. I have a Lionsteel frame lock so it isn't like I am not familiar with the design. I just don't care for it.

Unfortunately, it's been discontinued. The only auto currently in production is the Autonomy.

That's unfortunate, the Autonomy doesn't look like anything I'd have a use for lol. Thanks for the info tho, as I would have started saving for the Embassy.

This was my first frame lock-took a little time to get used to it but it's a solid lock up. YMMV

Just get a Gerber 06 Auto. :-)
Since I got my CHP, mine stay in the house.

Old school. Nice. I would carry something simple like that but I really like the pocket clip so I don't have to shove my dirty hands all the way down into my pocket to retrieve it.
I think Case makes a couple of traditional type pocket knives that have a clip on them. I might have to ask for one for Christmas.

You can still find the occasional Citadel or Embassy online, but they're priced at or above MSRP due to their collector status.
Carried this Buck one for a couple of years now :
(pic handle of mine is black though)

I have an Autonomy in stock now for sale to LE or active military...
