Well, I was going to surprise a second child on the 22 rifle giveaway, since I do actually have 2 rifles that I am giving away.
BUT....
Wife "suggested" ;)...the second winner be of the female persuasion.
Hey, gonna keep the wife happy.
So, in light of the fact that NO young ladies were nominated on the other thread, I am starting this one for LADIES ONLY nominations. Boys can still enter on the other thread.
This rifle is a Simson & Co. Suhl. It is about 41 1/2 inches long, with a 24+ inch barrel. It has some "cosmetic" rust on it, but nothing that will affect function. Like the other one, it is nothing fancy. A single shot, bolt action, with fair rifling, iron sights, and no scope, just a good shooter for a young lady to learn the basics on.
This rifle has been given the once over by the School of Trades "Gunsmiths" in Lakewood. I told them what I was going to do with it, and they said it was "ready" to rock and roll.
Took it out shooting last week, out of three rounds, I put one in the bullseye. The other two were pretty close.
The rules are the same as the other thread.
1. If you happen to be a previous winner of ANY firearm, please don’t enter, let’s pass it around.
2. I would like this rifle to go to a child that does not already have any firearm. Honor system.
3. What age child? Thinking about 8-12, this is negotiable.
You know, better than I, if your child is responsible enough for a firearm or not.
4. You must be an active participant in this forum to nominate the child. My judgment.
5. Can be, but does not have to be, your child, grandchild. Can be a niece, nephew, friends kid, etc.
6. Tell us a little about the kid, and why you think he/she should get it. (Mandatory) Don't need a life history, but "Please enter Brian." ain't gonna make it.
7. I will end this when I feel like it.
8. I will need (signed) parents permission.
9. This is for Colorado residents ONLY.
10. Since this IS for ANY kid in Colorado, I am quoting from the BATF FAQ website (the pertinent part) just in case it needs to be shipped. (FTF is in the Denver metro area)
If you are not comfortable receiving the rifle, without going through an FFL, don’t nominate anyone. Not using an FFL is perfectly legal, and looked at by the BATF, as a same state sale.
(quote)(B7) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?
A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State.(/quote)
Parents, if you are not willing to take the kid shooting, at least a few times per summer, don’t enter. Please don’t enter “just because it is free” lets get this to a child that (along with the parents) is going to put it to good use. I hope this rifle gives YEARS of enjoyment to the winner.
If no one else donates eyes and ears, I will make sure that the winner gets at least some safety glasses and foam ear plugs, if they do not have anything.
KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE.
