I've got a nice setup, but no clue on how to use it. Anyone care to mentor a newbie for cash/trade?
Lemme know, I'm in Aurora.
The Dillon video is actually pretty good.
If you still dont have it running 100% by mid to late July, let me know. I can swing by after an Aurora 3-gun or IPSC match.
I leave for California to do the firefighting thing next week.

Here's my setup, I have 223 brass aplenty (I need to sort it some).

Jim, I PM'd you. I need to get bullets, powder and primer, but I figure we can hit Sportsmans Warehouse really quick for that stuff.
Sportsmen Warehouse is always out of stuff. The one in littleton anyway.[Luck]

Kelly,
Let me know if you cant find components I have a good stock pile I can let you dip into. I also need to get your brass back to you.
Not sure what your planning on reloading but 55gr FMJ bullets might be hard to find at Sportsman's as well as primers. Powder should not be an issue.

Jim, got your VM, I'll call you when I'm back at my place (I'm borrowing the GF's laptop).
Craig, I appreciate the offer, I don't need to borrow anything, I can certainly pay market value. I just don't even know enough to say 'I need thi powder, theses bullets, these primers' yet.

Not a problem I can certainly sell them to you as well :)
I have new Winchester 55GR FMJ and 62gr surplus pull-down bullets as well as Winchester Small rifle primers. Several K of each.
I have had good luck with Varget and TAC for powder and a lot of folks use BL-C2 and 748. 223/5.56 is a pretty forgiving round when it comes to powder selection. My current powder of choice for the AR is TAC, Nice small ball shape so it meters very consistently and it was about $4 a pound cheaper then most others the last time I bought powder.
Buy a "powder cop" die if you have a open die station after your powder drop it will help stop squib loads and a bullet puller to salvage the inevitable mistakes.
When you get the press all setup the way you think it should be make a couple of dummy rounds without powder and primer to test for chambering before you set off churning out a boat load of rounds. Not just the first time but every time.
I also agree with FoxTrot when he suggests not just picking a load out of a book and running with it. Test the rounds. I also have a Chronograph if you really want to see how things are performing while doing this.
Watch your primers on the fired cases they are good but not definitive indication of pressure. There are lots of examples of over pressure signs on the net if you Google it.
Let me know if you need some components.

Excellent, I'm on that like a Rosie O'Donnel on a buffet line. I gotta go get a puller as well, I'm less 'sold' on the current rash of books since most of the receipes are all over the net, and I appreciate the advice, I'll try not to blow myself up. :)

I have the same set-up and I have found that the H335 powder meters well out of the unit. I developed a load for my Savage 10FP .223 using 55 grain V-Max's over 22.5 grains of H335 and the WSR primers. For my new AR, I am switching to the CCI primers as I have heard that the Winchesters are too soft. I just bought a new Micrometer seating die last week that has the window in the side to drop the bullet in which makes my cycle time much better. It's always a pain to get the bullet to stand up on the mouth of the case.
I live up in Loveland, and have the video if you'd like to borrow it. I would like it back though. I didn't read through all the posts on this thread, but it did look like you have some good help.
I have all the other little stuff to help with developing a load except for a chronograph. I bough the bullet comparator and the overall length gauge and such. If you need, we could always plan a day to get you set-up.

Well, thanks to all the input of the locals, plus a few other non-COAR15 members and Dillon's tech support, I managed to eke out a few rounds this morning (16 to be precise).
I'm using 55gr Winchester BTFMJ and 25.5gr of Varget (which feeds for shiat). Yes its a little light on the powder, but its a good 'builder' round from my friend Tim back east. All of them weight in right at 176gr total for bullet+primer+brass and I'm getting a 6gr+/- from brass differences (one headstamp "CBC" is 10gr heavier than LC brass; go figure).
OAL has looked excellent so far, at about 2.255+/-
So now I have somewhere to start. Wish me luck. ;)

I wanted to comment the other day about your setup, but today, with the powder loaded up, it's REALLY looking good.
I see you have a nice supply of clean .223 brass available, but I also noticed what appears to be handgun brass. Whatcha gonna be loading with that?

Thank you. As for the supply of .45 brass, I have a Para 13/45 that's being worked over down in NM and I'll be doing something with it when I get a little farther along. Right now, I want to Get comfortable with the 223 and then once I get a lilt more cash back, I'd like to setup a separate tool head for 308 and 45. I really don't see the point in reloading 9mm at this point because Glocks (my primary handgun) likes Wolf 9mm just fine and to be honest, the time & effort to reload 9mm is simply not worth it.
