Might be a good time to catch Kefalas to talk about HB 1224/1226/1228/1229

STATE CAPITOL UPDATE - February 18, 2013
By Representative Randy Fischer, Colorado House District 53
This past week was tremendously busy for my colleagues and me in the House of Representatives. I'm pleased finally to be able to sit down, catch my breath, and connect with my constituents. The important work we are doing to improve public safety and help reduce gun-related violence extended until almost midnight this past Friday. Although the public safety legislation is extremely important, I continue to work hard on a wide variety of issues of concern to the people in my district and throughout Colorado. For example, I am sponsoring bills dealing with regulation of oil and gas development along the front-range's densely populated urban corridor, water conservation, and renewable energy. These bills are working their ways through the legislative process or are poised for introduction.
I hope you'll take a few minutes to look over this latest edition of my newsletter and let me know if you have any thoughts, suggestions, questions, or concerns about the work my colleagues and I are doing.
YOU'RE INVITED: COMMUNITY FORUM SATURDAY, FEB. 23
Colorado Energy Development : Balancing Energy Security with Public Health and Environmental Risks
Please join Representative Joann Ginal, Senator John Kefalas, and me for a community issues forum focused on the critical issue of energy development along the urbanized front-range corridor. The purpose of the forum is to help inform public policy initiatives aimed at solving problems around this topic of deep concern to our constituents.
The event will feature presentations from four panelists who will share their perspectives on balancing public health and environmental concerns with energy security as oil and gas development encroaches on densely populated urban areas in northern Colorado. The panelists' presentations will be followed by a facilitated public dialogue.

ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION REMAINS A TOP PRIORITY
Environmental issues are one of my top priorities in the legislature again this year. As we in the legislature deal with some important but divisive and controversial issues that tend to receive all the media attention, I am pleased to report that a lot of good work is being done on oil and gas regulation, renewable energy, water conservation, and air quality.
I was especially delighted to read Bobby Magill's recent article in the Fort Collins Coloradoan describing some of the environmental legislation on which I and others are working. In case you missed it, here is a link to the article.
Sincerely,
Randy Fischer, State Representative
