View Full Version : Why not a ballot initiative?
OK, if someone can get an amendment or ballot initiative together to decriminalize marijuana why can't we get an initiative on the next ballot to settle gun rights once and for all?
I think it can only address one specific thing. If you want to go whole hog, I'd suggest update the CO constitution to specify the strict scrutiny level of review for gun laws. Which would kill the "we have to do something" and "we feel it will help" sort of laws.

Excellent idea! I think that Louisiana did that.
Another US Constitutional idea that I have heard, is that the Amendments to the US Constitution override the original Constitution. The 2nd Amendment overrides the commerce clause.
Let's do it. As long as the Feds don't pass anything stupid it should hold up better than 64.

You need millions of dollars to pay for the signature drive and the subsequent election media campaign. A lot of millions since the various TV outlets will do a full out propaganda drive against any initiative for free.
If you raise say $20 million, you are on.
