Limited on my phone so if this has been covered i apologize and did not see the info posted anywhere.

My sister is getting her permit and was told or read she has to register which gun she wants to carry. I didnt do this and cant see how it would be a requirement. She hasnt even found a carry weapon yet.

Can you get more details? If true we need to raise hell and get it exposed. Start recall of Darr.

I just looked at the application packet and I did not see any mention of listing or registering handguns. I got mine in July 2011 and didn't have to do that. Updated address in May 2012 and nobody mentioned anything. Also, have not received any notification about having to register my handguns. Maybe somebody has more details.

I called her but she is at work and i deleted the voicemail she left me so as soon as i talk to her again ill find out the details. No need for fire and pitchforks quite yet, she is new to all of this other than growing up around hunting and the little she has listened to me in all my rants at family gatherings so she may have been misinformed or misunderstood.

I'm hoping that's the case. That wasn't the case when I picked my permit up.

Don't know who told her but that's nonsense.

The State of Colorado prohibits gun registration. CRS 29-11.7-102

Got mine in December, never asked about firearms or was there a provision on the form.

She should be getting off work here shortly and I will double check. Again she isn't a "gun" person so it could be some false information, but I will definitely try to find out . A lot of people who aren't very gun familiar have asked me about registration before thinking they were required to be registered. They also don't know that silencers are legal along with machine guns.
It would be nice to know where this misinformation is coming from so hopefully it can get corrected.

She only has a ruger mkii pistol right now and I want to take her shooting hopefully on Saturday and start getting her comfortable with a bigger gun, the ways to carry and holster/purse options and find her the gun she wants.

Just got off the phone with her. This was info from some tard at the gym....

Sorry for the stir. Her message was long and she mentioned both this and her packet among other things. Just some confusion! Thanks for the help guys!
