View Full Version : I tried to e-mail my senator and it got bounced back

Can someone explain this to me and how I make it go through?

This may be caused by the recipient's mailbox being full.

Give it another shot in a day or so.

I think so. I had a couple bounce back today too and I know the addresses are correct.

Too many hops 26 (25 max):
1. you should edit our your email address out of your post so you don't get spammed.
2. "Too many hops" just means that the tubes were full. Your email took too circuitous a route through the internet to get from your mail server to theirs. Try again later and it'll go through. It's nothing within your control, unless you can connect through a different ISP temporarily.

My first thought on seeing a "too many hops" message is misconfiguration somewhere, usually within the receiving domain. postmaster@state.co.us might be a reasonable place to forward a copy of the bounce for technical resolution of the problem (but don't expect them to forward it on).

i have received some responses that say they are receiving large volumes of email so we could be filling up their mailboxes.
