Fuck. This. I thought I had it planned out pretty well this year and wasn't going to owe anything. If anything, I thought I would get a few bucks back. Nope. NopeNopeNope. Suprise motherfucker, you owe the fed over $4k! For what? They don't do their fucking jobs! Why should I pay them for nothing?[Dunno] They aren't doing me any favors, just raping the Constitution and defiling the Bill of Rights like Jim and a bus full of middleschool boys. Here's what changed from last year: My wife and I finally make real paychecks that put us above $57K AGI. I didn't realize that getting a pay raise would mean that I have to pay for everyone else's goddamn food stamps. Is this how the game works? Real Americans working their butts off have to pay for all the fucking leaches that are sucking our life out? Seriously, how do you guys deal with this shit? How do you feel about paying 15%+ to the federal government who just turns around and wastes your hard-earned money? Fucking unions are jacking up taxes and those OWS fucks are sucking at the government teat! GodDAMN! FFS, THIS IS RIDICULOUS [facepalm]

6.5/10 and I feel that was generous. Ronin can show you how to throw down a tax rant. And to think I was pissed about getting $1400 less...
on a serious note, I feel for ya. Pretty soon people need to fall out of the cart and die or start pushing and pulling.

I wish I only paid 15%. Obama wants more.
I'm scared about what ours will be.
Oh! Here's a tip to anyone that wants to have donations taken into account: this year, if you donate more than $400.00 worth of items- clothing, furniture or whatever, and you plan on figuring that into your taxes, the IRS wants descriptions AND photos in addition to receipts.

You think that is bad? Sit down and figure out how much you have paid it gas tax, sales tax, licences and fees. Add that to your federal and state income tax and see how that is as a % of your income.

Oops, forgot the cell phone tax. Taxes on your gas and water and so on and so on.

Seriously? You give me only a 6.5, but don't tell me where I have room to improve? [gohome]

Well you didn't make one mention of OWS, a little short(see ronins post from last year for word count reqs), lack of sentence structure and punctuation. Could've thrown a 'blame the unions' comment for extra credit.

Just remember, it could be worse. I just moved back from England... Minimum 30% on income. Some of my co-workers paid 45% income tax. Plus 20% on everything you buy. But the worst part of all of it? NO GUNS!
Sounds like you just need more lube.

Try when you are paying 50%+ fed and state, and then get told you are not paying your fair share!
I am getting back a whole lot less also. They take more and can't even pass a budget. What is worst is lazy and stupid people keep reelecting there morons. We are in sad shape my friends. Our system is great when it is actually used properly.

I had to come up with $8K 2 years ago, $7K last year, removed all of my deductions and still have to come up with over $3K this year. 15% I wish...
We're not "wealthy", but make too much according to the IRS to deduct losses from a rental property.
I sure feel like I'm on a canoe ride and I can hear Dueling Banjos...
To think that the nation fought a revolutionary war over a 2% tax.... My, how times have changed.

Has anyone that has health insurance take note of that little addition in box 12? Obama care is coming and it will not be funny.

Now that's how a HoneyBadger RANTS! I expect EVERYONE to give a tax rant this year. My books won't be in until the beginning of April. We have been aggressively saving and are preparing to get seriously bent this year (and yes it's only getting worse). I plan on telling my wife the the final figures while she is on the treadmill, hopefully minimizing any chance of a heart attack.

You're a 1 percenter, aren't you? [LOL]
I really don't think deductions should exist. You should not get a "bonus" at tax time because you invested poorly, have student loans, lived on food stamps, and are a single mom with 8 kids. There should be no deductions at all.
Then again, there should be no income tax. There shouldn't be single moms with 8 kids living on food stamps, and the federal welfare programs shouldn't be growing by 30-50% every year. If federal assistance programs actually worked, every year we should see a decrease in the number of beneficiaries, right? [pileoshit]

Damn honeybadger. I give you a 8/10 on the rant. That is brutal. I was pissed about a lesser amount.

Not this year! I actually get something back. Granted it's not enough to offset my paycheck shrink. Oh but good news, Obama wants to raise taxes again! [Mad]

The more you make, the more they take. It's like they want to punish you for working hard and trying to better yourself. Rich folks don't pay for this country middle class people do.

I thought it was a good rant.
I tried something new this year. I maxed out my withholdings on my W4 so that no taxes were taken out of my paycheck, created a formula in Excel based off the 2012 tax rates, and factored in the standard deduction. I kept track of my and my wife's taxable income and saved accordingly. I over-saved a little by design, and after we got all of our W2s, 1099s, etc, did my taxes on Turbotax (before I found out their 2A stance [Mad]). Turned out I owed less than I saved, and earned a few bucks in interest in the meantime. No interest free loan for the gubment last year from me.
Our tax system is evil and immoral. If we have an income tax, it should be flat and everybody should have to pay it. No deductions, no credits. The fact that somebody who pays no income tax can vote to raise my taxes is bullshit.

Someone mention me?
:D
FWIW, a few weeks back, I paid over $2k in penalties and interest for "filing late" because the GD IRS stamped my extension 2 days late. I paid 50% of the fukin taxes owed with the estimate and the balance owed when I filed in August. Corksoakers fined me back to April and also denied my request for abatement of the penalty so it was bend over and take it up the ass so we can send your money to Mexican babies Mr. citizen.

There is no such thing as 'too much' personal responsibility. Nice job.
Doubt the fact they like dishing out 99 weeks of unemployment pay has anything to do with it..............

I guess it depends on how you define rich. The middle class definitely provide a wider tax base for consumption taxes (gas, alcohol, etc.). Any way you cut it, if you make a decent income, you're getting screwed by the government.

Hopefully the running will prevent/minimize the surge of anxiety and she can run off her anger. Insurance is paid up.
47% of this country doesn't make enough money to pay income taxes. More than 1 in 4 are at or below the poverty line. Don't think of your part as tax - think of it as a bribe you pay the government to keep the other half of the country from turning into armed gangs looking for food. Think more like Iraq, and less like the LA Riots of the 90s.
