View Full Version : Own a plug in hybrid or CNG vehicle? taxes coming
seems the state isn't happy that you aren't paying your fair share of transport taxes. This just got out of committee
concerning changes related to motor vehicles that travel on the public highways of the state (http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2013a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont/0602C7EBF986A79387257AEE00574BCD?Open&file=1110_01.pdf)
Honestly I agree that you have to pay for the roads you use but a flat rate isn't the way.

Was already torqued about FASTER TAX... Now they're gone full retard.
In civics 101, you learn to tax behavior you DON'T want, and provide breaks for behavior you WANT... So I guess they want us to drive gas guzzlers[Flower]

The state pays out tax incentives for buying these vehicles. Now they want to tax them more? Money in, money out, state takes its cut as overhead. It's all free money right? And the state needs more of yours... Gotta keep those state employees busy so they can justify hiring more. Never mind that with a $30 fee and the low number of non-gvmt alt fuel vehicles around, this legislation will likely cost more to pass and maintain than it will generate.
Disclaimer: I own one of these 'electric "hippy cars". I pay a $#!+load of taxes to support you lazy bums, so don't go whining to me about claiming that rebate. I'm an engineer not a treehugger; my dodge cummins literally costs $8 bucks a day to drive to work and back. The same trip in my hippy car costs .85 cents. Maybe I can do the opposite of those carbon credit reversals by burning some tires in my backyard.
I suspect you already know this; nothing wrong with driving a hippie car if you're doing it to save yourself some bucks. However, the "save the planet" crowd can't seem to understand that thing has already done half a million miles in energy cost before they set their hemp covered ass in the drivers seat.
