There is a great little outdoor shooting range just north of Silverthorn. If you exit I-70 and head towards Keystone ski resort right before you get there (to the resort) on the east side of the road where the city dump is there is a great little range. A 50 yard pistol range, 100 yard rifle range with 4 benches and a shotgun range. The city has prisoners from the jail clean up on the first Monday of every month. If your close stop by and throw a couple shots down range.

It's in the city of Dillon - listed on the list of range already I think. They have locals policing it in the weekend too... unlike other free public range, this one is actually SAFE! Thanks for the post.

It's not in the Town of Dillon and it's safe until the Summit County illegals and snowboarders bring their friends that have never handled guns and start blasting at fifths of Jack Daniels, old snowboards, and TVs.

I've gone a few Sundays pretty early in the day (before ten AM) and have not had an issue. There have been two or three other folks there each time and are nice enough.

I would imagine as long as you're there before noon you won't deal with too many yahoos.

Was there on Saturday from 1:00ish til 4:30ish. The place was completely packed but it appeared everyone was being safe. Was on the rifle range and people were willing to stop whenever so you could go down range to change or assess targets.

A wildlife ranger showed up around 3:00 to check things out but didn't appear to say anything to anyone.

Most people seemed decent about picking up their brass and trash.

Been there a few times to pick up brass, used to detour off I-70 just to do that and go over Loveland Pass. It was all fixed up last year or the year before, with the berms rebuilt and some asphalt put down. There's usually a bigass roll-off dumpster on-site too for trash. Shot there a few times too. It is a nice place.

Another nice public one, but kinda out in the toolies, is the CDOW range on US40 between Hot Sulphur Springs and Parschall, about halfway between Granby and Kremmling. Got some longer rifle ranges there. Shortly after you get out of the canyon it's on the right (north). Supposed to have a Habitat Stamp to shoot there, but I've never been checked.
