Taking the family through Hunters Education this week, [pick-me] and there are several non-students who already have our Hunters Education cards. They will be re-testing us, why I don't know, for fun I guess?
The few of us will not be allowed to shoot on the range due to the lack of, or cost of ammo. Really? Wouldn't you think the DOW/Parks would have a pallet of 22LR in their inventory already for Hunters Ed classes. How many rounds could two more shooters cost them? $5 max? I really don't expect each shooter to fire more than about 10 rounds, maybe 20. * 10 students. [zombie1]
Just found this to be interesting. [panic]

Back in the day they used bb guns... at least mine did here in Colorado
I think 10 would be about it.

Apparently they weren't included in the current huge goverment ammo orders the media has been talking about.

I remember shooting the same rifles they'll probably shoot tonight, old bolt action marlins and glenfields. I think we shot one round per position. (1980) Off Hand, Sitting, prone, and whatever the other one is. (hope I don't flunk!)

The one I did was run by a couple, and the cost of the class barely covered their costs). The DOW didn't give them anything afaik to run the class. The only reason they charged at all was that so many people would sign up and then not show when it was free (their words).

Ok, they gave 4 students 10 shots each. None of us spectators were allowed to shoot. :) One more day and we're done with hunters education. Next up is Wife and CCW. ;)
Nice range the DOW has setup though. Appears it's also used by State Patrol and possibly some other agencies?
My pops is a DOW Hunter's Ed instructor. I'll ask him what the deal is. Also I'm supposed to RSO a range of kids this month or next, maybe you'll see me there?

I passed! Yea! scored 98. [Ban1]Wife scored 100 (like always of anything she does in school/college) :D, 14 YO son scored 92 and daughter was 83. Kids were allowed to try and fix their answers.
I wasn't allowed a new card though? :( Guess I'll see if DOW will give me a new "orange" card.

I shot 10 rounds tonight at my "class".... More on that in another thread.
We only shot 10 rounds at mine! Have fun!
I just got back from assisting a DOW class tonight in Denver, and we had the students shoot 10 rounds a piece.

What freaking media? You don't hear about the purchases on CNN , ABC etc. Because they are covering for our governments suspicious movements.
I feel bad for those taking the hunter safety course and being impacted by no ammo, but we all are at that too.
I just finished my HSC Tuesday, and the RO told us how many people they train a year, x10 rounds each, and the amount of .22's they go through every year was well over a million. Seems like 1.5 million or so. Lotta damn .22's.
What amazed me was how many people in the class were piss-poor shots! Hits were all over the targets. I put all 10 in the vital zone in a space the size of a quarter. RO was impressed. I was amazed.

We do go through a lot of ammo. Even at just 10 rds apiece.
