Well, my wife got me a used iPad for valentines day. It is the first version, pretty cool and we got it for $120 so hard to beat.

Bad news was he couldn't find the outlet adapter for the USB cord. So I have been charging it off my laptop but the iPad has to be in standby to charge. I ordered a cheapo off eBay for the outlet adapter. It came today:

Hopefully they send a new one as this was in 2 pieces and doesn't snap together! Chinese made junk!

That sucks.. Although to be fair, everything and anything to do with iPad and its components are made in China!

LOL! Just what I was going to say... it's all made in China anyways!!! I've had crappy power supply issues even with the Apple 'branded' stuff!

I've had very good luck with apple cords from monoprice.com (i get my replacement ipod cords from them for a few bucks each). They have a ton of good quality, low priced cables.

You just need a wall USB charger. Doesn't need to be some fancy white apple product. Can find them cheap at Wally World, ratshack, best buy pretty much anywhere

Unfortunately it isnt true for the ipad. It will charge with my phone wall adapter but it has to be powered off or in stanbu. How am i supposed to play my rc flight simulator game?

Do not cut corners on apple charging products. Either buy Apple or someone reliable, Belkin, Logitech, or the like.

Ive seen so many cooked idevices from crummy cables and adapters.

I find it amazing that someone will spend hundreds of dollars on an electronic item and then risk frying it with a cheep knockoff charger.

You get what you pay for.

I had to go look at my iPad charger to see what was wrong with the pic. [facepalm]

I would stick with a proper charging plug. I have a real nice paperweight that used to be an external HD that got plugged into the wrong AC cord.

There is a huge difference between a product made in China and a cheep knockoff made in China.
