The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is on lockdown after local police received a report that a person with a long rifle and body armor is on campus.
In a statement posted on the school's website, students and workers were urged to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity to campus police. MIT said multiple law enforcement agencies have responded.
The Cambridge Police Department wrote on Twitter that police searched the building where the gunman was reportedly spotted, but found nothing.
