Hanging out here postponing my painting endeavors I pet my old lab CJ. 3/4 yellow lab, 1/4 golden retriever. 12 years old in November 2012. He's been hunted hard, played hard, slept a lot farted alot and been an excellent dog. One scare in the 10 years of me being his dad. Nothing major. Like most labs his hips bother him, yet he powers through. His whole life he only aimed to serve and please. Even in his old age, hips hurting, vision not as good - "what can I do for ya pa", that is if he could speak. I love and care this dog more than most people I meet. He is my longest standing best friend.

Sorry to ramble just my thoughts as of lately.

I love and care for this dog more than most people I meet.
I know the feeling well. Very well.

Thanks for sharing that pic! I like how his tail is blurry from wagging. I'm with you - I like my dogs more than 99% of people I meet.

I know your that feeling. My lab will be 14 in May. He's completely deaf and pretty stiff, but he still loves rolling around with me.

Dogs will never try to take your guns or feel entitled to half your income. If you love them, they will almost always return that love without reservation. If only we could replace all liberals with dogs ... [Beer]
What a sweet dog!
Have you tried glucosamine/chondroitin supplements for his hips? I've heard that helps stiff joints.
Thank you for sharing. There is nothing that can touch the loyalty and love of a four-legged family member.

I get it.
God knows I've never done anything remotely good enough to deserve the love and joy I get from my dogs.
Good boy!
Highclss: Have you tried glucosamine chondroitin for his hips? It has worked well for the old dogs in my dog pack.

It's a good ramble. Looks like you just enjoy having him around. I lost my old guy just before I deployed in November, and it's going to hit hard when I get home and he's not there waiting for me.
Of course, the wife got a new yellow lab pup so I'm sure she'll help me get through.

God put dogs on earth to teach humans what love is.

One of my favorite bumper stickers: Lord, help me be half the man my dog thinks I am.
What a handsome and distinguished fella he is! Thanks for sharing with us and posts like this restore my faith in humanity. As long as we have dogs to remind us the simple joy of life... things are somehow not so bad.

It's amazing how much your dog will love you! This was a terrible day for me! Was in North Dakota hunting pheasants with my pup when she started limping. I went over to her and pulled some cactus out of her foot checked it "good" and sent her on her way.. She was limping a little but I called her a sissy and told her to shake it off.. She hunted for about 2 more hours at that spot. When I went to get her to load in the vehicle she wouldn't jump up! I figured she was just too tired but I checked her foot again and picked her up and put her in the truck.
We got out at the next spot she jumped out but right away started limping again! I thought what in the heck is going on I checked her foot again rubbing her pad really well this time! Well my finger felt something hard. I tried to pull it out the first time and it wouldn't come out went for a second time using my nails to get up in there! My eyes must have been huge when I pulled out about an inch and a half thorn that looked like something that came of a crab apple tree! She never whined or anything.. I went to put her up for the day and started walking away when she went nuts barking and whining! I went back and got her out barely limping or anything because she wanted to hunt so bad. We hunted for about an hour longer when I called it a day.
when we got back to the motel I looked at her foot better.. The thorn went all the way through her foot and came out the top! Talk about feeling absolutely terrible! I immediately went to the grocery store and bought some Epsom salt, antibiotic ointment, gauze and duct tape! Was swollen for about 2 days but healed up well.. But this picture shows it all!! I love this dog more than most people! I decided to get the last bird she retrieved for me on that trip because it was a bird that flew about 300 yards before it finally fell from the sky and she brought it back! A real nice male Hungarian partridge that should be here next month.
22335 22337 22341 Yeah I love my dog too!
Good looking pup there buddy! Our chocolate is 12, with the hip issues too. Clucosamine is helping him a lot.
As everyone else has said, their love is ever giving!
