I have an XD .45 compact that I would very much like to use as a CCW piece, I am looking at different holsters and would like to know what works best for you guys. Any suggestions on a CCW holster for a springfield XD compact?
I use Nate squared tacticall's IWB holster for my M&P compact and my dad uses it as well for his XDm compact. I started out using a crossbreed super tuck, but found it to be really uncomfortable. This Nate squared tactical IWB holster is by far the most comfortable holster that I have tried and I can wear it all day no problem. It doesn't look too pretty and it doesn't cost that much, but I love it. I have the original and my Dad has the professional. I just ordered another one for my full size pistols. Check em out.

I have the XDm 3.8" .45, not a XD compact, technically, but close. I use a D.M. Bullard leather OWB: Bodyguard model. http://store.dmbullardleather.com/catalog/product/3028b0ddb8d34207907cfbc9aa0a108d

I would recommend kydex OWB for that size of pistol, depending on your frame it will disappear just as easily as IWB (in my experience), and is more comfortable. I carry a G26 in one and if I don't mention I'm carrying, nobody I've asked has ever noticed. I highly recommend member jimmym40a2 for your kydex needs.

Comp-Tac Minotaur Spartan for IWB or a kydex piece from Colorado Holsters for OWB. I carry a full size M&P in these two holsters daily.

Thanks for some of the advice guys, while the n8 holsters look good, I am thinking more about the kydex holsters. I am not a particularly large guy (5'8" and weigh about 160) will a kydex OWB still conceal relatively easily? I mean, I get that in the winter I can conceal more easily, but how about during the summer months when I don't plan on wearing a coat?

You'll want an IWB holster if you're trying to conceal under a tshirt or polo.

I'm 5'9 180 (but was 160 until the ol lady got preg lol), I have no issues concealing OWB at either weight. I'll be back to 160 in no time, and will still carry with a kydex holster.

Do you use a jacket to conceal it at all?

Oh and I do conceal under t-shirts and polos. Guess it would depend on how tight your shirts are.

I don't need to use a jacket, and have carried my Glock 26 OWB, wearing just a t-shirt. In fact if I remember right, I did a transaction with member Akyla years back, and we got on the topic of holsters, I showed him my rig, and he was surprised because he didn't know I was packing.
I had a XD .45 compact and carried in a IWB Crossbreed knockoff. I am 5' 10" 170 and it easily concealed under a t-shirt in the summer.
