Well, much to my wifes dismay, I finally broke down and ordered the Stag 1L (Lefty) I've been wanting for the past 2 months.

Talked to 2 different folks @ Stag and got 2 different ship dates. It'll either be shipped on Friday, or not for 2 weeks.

It looks like I'll either have to take my tactical rig off of my Colt CAR or just buy another one (probably get another setup).

Now I just have to recondition all of the mag's I've got so that'll keep me busy until the Stag arrives.

Stag's are fine weapons. I'd venture to say they are starting to push into Rock Rivers space and truly higher quality than DPMS and below.

Congrats.. and Botach has a sale going on railed handguards in case you're looking there.

Well, I'm still waiting for my Stag to arrive at the dealer (Shootin' Den in Colo Spr).

During the wait, I've purchased another tactical sling, received the PermaSlik-G to recondition my mag's (started this process, still waiting for the new springs and followers to arrive), bought 300 rounds of Federal .223 brass (would have bought more but all of the purchases I made yesterday was making me a bit light in the wallet. I've already got primers and bullets - just need the powder.), purchased an unused M7 bayonet with the M8A1 scabbard.

Hell, I've even picked up a Gerber Gator machete to add to the back of my assault vest for that extra visual "UMPH".

Now, I just need the new evil back gun.

On a couple of other notes, I met aloharover from Shadow River Productions at the Sertoma Gun Show yesterday. Nice fellow, but he was a bit busy (good for him!). I also found the dealer I spoke with at the last show who offered to get me a Stag 1L for $850. I lost his card so I went through Shootin Den instead. If I had just waited another couple of weeks for this gun show, I'd already have the gun - and would have saved $150. That same dealer was at this weekends show and had a 1L there for $850 taunting me.

Now, the purchase of the bayonet with an attempted install on my CAR-15 showed me another reason I hate the flash suppressor on this rifle (It's a poorly machined screw-on that extends the barrel to legal length). The bayonet won't fit over the FS. Anyone know of a source for nice/tactical looking FS's that can (initially) be screwed onto a Colt AR barrel? EDIT/UPDATE: I found 2 good options @ MidwayUSA.com that I think I'll get. They're cheap enough (even with the crush washer and peelable washers) that I'll get 'em both and see which I like best.

If you know an FFL that won't screw you on a transfer, Pete at Legal Transfers in NH gets really good deals on Stag/CMT and RRA uppers, lowers, and rifles. You can find him in the EE forum at ARFCOM.

Thanks for the info GMan - I may be looking for "mod" parts in the not-to-distant future so I'll save this info for future reference.

I picked up the new Stag 1L today (took off from work early to get it). Once I had it at home I immediately got the tac sling on it. GZreat gun and looking to shoot it in the A.M. this Saturday @ Dragon Man's. I'll have my Colt CAR out too - it's been almost a year since I put a round through it. I'll probably even bring my hunting rifle since I reloaded some .30-06 rounds and want to see how they perform.

The new AR is ALMOST all I'd hoped it would be. I tried to put my Imperial M7 bayonet on it and found that the lug is milled too large to accept a bayonet. I'll be calling Stag tomorrow about that!

Now I just have to get my spings and followers in that I ordered to put together my refurb'ed magazines and I'll be all set.

If anyone is in the area and wants to shoot Sat morn, I'd love to shoot (the shit) with you. I'm looking to be there around 10ish.
