Cutting down a wood stock

So, what's the best wy to do this without making the cut all crooked? Band saw? Table saw? Mark it and cut it by hand?

Maybe just pay somebody so I don't screw it up?

I would think a chop saw would be the best way to get a square cut. The other ways could move on you easier.

I have a chop saw. Hadn't thought of that. I'd just have to find some way to make sure I could keep the stock squared up to the blade while I cut.

Chop saw. Just chopped down 4 GWACS/Cav Arms lowers last night with a friend's chop saw. Squared it up against the guide, changed to the desired angle and sliced it.

Use a piece of wood or something against the fence to keep it square and you should be GTG.

I have done three with a chop saw. Just make sure to hold it square, you cannot just lay it on the base.

I knew someone would understand my dilemma.

Whats the best way to "hold it square"?

Just eyeball it and hold it?

I drew a line on the stock where I wanted to cut it. Then adjusted the angle of the chop saw to match while holding the top of the stock against the back of the chop saw table. Then used a piece of scrap to help hold up the fore-end. None of them were perfect. I then used a belt sander to get it where I wanted it.
