I won't go into a diatribe, but cutting 9% out of a 1 trillion dollar excess in spending versus revenue is mathematically inane...

Hmm, guess I might have to harvest the local rabbit population. Only people going hungry are the ones that don't know where the food in the grocery store comes from.

Might not hurt to thin the herd a little.

Granted things like this are said, creates a panic, and people clear store shelves. Then again the gov't can declare they "control" all the food and regulate who gets what in a fair fashion...I can't wait.

It's another media / admin ploy to make anyone in .gov who opposes O's 5 year plan look bad.

That's why you wait until after the first frost, or maybe even the first snow, I follow the same rule for squirrels. Granted been 20 years since I have eaten either, but I don't hunt either until after the first frost.

I can't believe you would suggest such a thing. We are all going to starve.

So true.

Funny thing: Back in the 60's, there was a rabbit hutch/breeding/raising type place not 200 yards from my house. They had a "break out" one year where most of the rabbits escaped. The foundation of the place is still there. Maybe it's my imagination, but there seen to be a SHIT TON of rabbits around here. I've even found dead rabbits in my crawl space...probably from the rat poison. And the tree rats (squirrels) are always breeding.

Good protein though if SHTF...[Bunny]

The only problem is, if that happens the government may step in and "save the day" regardless of costs... the sheeple will praise them for it, furthering the left's cause for total involvement.

All pert of the Entitlement, FSA, mentality. These "honest caring, hard working people" are the same ones who VOTE.

9% cuts, across the board? -BRING IT!

+1. I think it should be somewhat discretionary, but at least 9%. If fiscally conservative folks in the gov't are able to identify cases where 20% cuts can be had, let them do those too!

After much deliberation and contemplation, I recommend a 94% cut across the board. 4% of the 6% that won't get cut is military spending. The other 2% is for funding programs such as NASA.

The scare tactics used by this administration are absurd. If we let the measly sequester happen...

- Food will run low.
- Our military men and women will be forgotten.
- Criminals will be set free on our streets (DHS has already started letting jailed illegals walk)
- The FAA won't have enough air traffic controls so airplanes will crash.

On and on. I simply can't believe anyone is falling for this BS.

I wonder if this is that "warning shot," that Joe was talking about before the declaration of marshal law for the greater good. I mean this could have all been avoided if we had all just agreed with our fearless leader.

About the time I think what I am writing is a bit too tin foil hat for my tastes, I look at the progression and I really have to wonder wtf is going on.

I'm sure the grocery shoppers of families have noticed the continual slow rise of prices on meats, items with wheat and refined sugars, so it's not a surprise that Dire Warnings are now predicting food shortages. The "sky is falling" mentality with food availability and prices has been an ongoing cry for the past twelve months, if not longer. I hope people are considering other options aside from the local King Soopers as a provider of groceries: canning is an option (and it works with meats as well as fruits and veggies), Farmer's Markets, even co-ops should be a part of the equation. As Minister of Finances for our family, I plan in stretching those pennies until Lincoln yelps, and that means taking a long-term approach. I think that's what ends up biting most folks in the behind- they don't plan ahead. I'm even going to try my hand at container gardening this year. I'm tired of the bruised produce and the ridiculous prices at the big name stores!

Sadly, my local suburban rabbit population has mysteriously dwindled recently...[Dunno]...[Wink]

That's OK, spring is around the corner and they will multiply again.

I'm sure my food supply isn't what it should be, certainly not when compared to devout preppers, but I know my wife and I will have nourishment for a while regardless of what happens... that's all any reasonable, responsible, person can ensure for themselves....

If a couple months went by without any distribution from the heartland to the coasts, how many people do you think would perish?

Some may starve, but I think most will be killed for their food by the wolves in our society...

I admit I have 60lbs of rice stashed. You got to have carbohydrates. If you have that much rice per person, you are probably not gonna starve for six months. Add a few cases of canned tuna, etc. and you are good!
