what is the cheapest .30 cal belt links?

A lot of custom fabrication would be the first.

The surplus links for the M60/M240 would probably be the easiest and cheapest to acquire.

Take a look at the Ares Defense stuff in 5.56. They're pretty expensive and have been about a decade in the making. The appeal there is if you have a RDIAS or registered lower you can have a beltfed auto, whereas on an AR-10 there aren't too many transferable or even post sample MGs.

Armalite made one back in the 50s to try to sell the platform as a GPMG, in addition to as an infantry rifle, so of course it can be done. $$$

The Colt, and later Ciener beltfeed conversions for the AR-15 were based off the original Armalite beltfed AR-10 design.

..true but then again with slide fire tech being what it is its a "I cant believe its not butter" substitute to pre 1986 full autos...
