Hey everyone,

I'm a Colorado native and I'm from Colorado Springs, spent most of my life in Broomfield. It looks like my timing couldn't be worse, but I'm looking into getting an AR-15, mostly target, will eventually use to hunt as well. Because of all the drama going on right now, I'm probably going to build my own AR-15 and just take it slow. Looking into a Lower Receiver and all the parts right now, then eventually I'll get to the Upper. I have a lot to learn, so I'll be on here quite a bit!

Thanks everyone! I'm probably opening a can of worms here, but should I avoid polymer lower receivers? I am looking into New Frontier, since they seem to be consistently cheaper than other lowers offered, but after doing some searches through to forum and ar15.com, I don't see any high reviews on the receiver. I like the idea of a lighter rifle, and I'd like to find a stripped lower receiver for under $200, so any help on this would be great. Thanks!

I haven't heard anything particularly negative about poly lowers, but I've never owned one either. People say the parts fit... that's all I can add. If you're in the market for a hell of a deal on lowers... I'd check out the semi-custom lower offer on www.shadowopsweaponry.com you'd be supporting a local business (I'm not affiliated with the company in any way, other than placing an order with them) and they're a BILLET lower for $150 with your own laser-engraved logos. Seems like a heck of a lot better deal than a $200 poly lower. They're going fast, so jump on board pretty soon if you're interested.

Wow, thanks a lot for that! I don't know how I didn't find them in any of my searches, but I can't argue with a $150 billet aluminum lower and free transfer and on-site pick-up. I guess I'm kind of an impulse buyer, I just placed an order. Thanks again! Now just a waiting game until July

Oh definitely, I've met Senator Udall a couple times, and I sent his secretary an email a few days ago. I'm not sure if he'll remember me or not, but regardless, another voter's voice for him to hear.

Welcome.

Good luck on that AR. Right now, everything is hard to get. I've been upping my spare parts supply, and I've had to go all over the place (on the internet, that is) to get the parts I wanted. I don't see that getting any better soon. I'd say get what you can, when you see it because it won't be there if you blink, at least for now. I've even watched 7.62 x 54R ammo disappear...how bad is that?

Yeah it seems pretty hectic right now, especially when i was looking at BCGs, but the lower receiver won't be in until June or July anyway, so I guess that forces me to wait for all this madness to settle down a bit. So far I have ordered the billet lower receiver from Shadow Ops Weaponry, and a RRA LPK from a dealer on AR15.com, so once i get those then, (and hopefully a few pmags from this "Boulder Airlift") I'll start looking into upper components this summer, hopefully with better prices, or at least better availability.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
