People who shoot competitively or who take more advanced firearms training courses that cover tactical reloads know how quickly a gun can be reloaded.
There is a common misconception that if you just limit the number of rounds in a magazine then will significantly slow down an active shooter.
Those of us well versed on reloading know this is not true. By doing tactical reloads (inserting a new magazine before your gun is completely empty) you can very, very quickly keep rounds in your firearm regardless of the number of rounds in the magazines.
In this video made by Indiana sheriffs they test multiple scenarios and show that there is little to no difference in the time it takes to fire 30 round from 2 15 round magazines, 3 10 round magazines and 5 6 round magazines. They also demonstrate shooting multiple revolvers (the fastest way to put 30 rounds down range in the video) and the reload time on an AR-15 rifle.
Don’t worry 1911 guys, they also show how quickly that weapon can get rounds on target despite its 7 round magazine capacity.

Great video and I don't doubt the overall results. However, Jim really picked up his firing pace with the small capacity mags. I really liked when they showed the person trying to reach the shooter during the reload.

The other thing I noticed was that Jim seemed to be intentionally slower and more deliberate firing with the standard capacity magazines. I love the intent of the video but the morons will just see it as Zundfolge suggests and claim we just shouldn't have any guns or at least be restricted to single shot pistols.

Good demonstration for a non scientific experiment. I applaud the efforts and the intent.

I have a way to make that test much more realistic and make an even better point. During the portion where they had someone try and run at the shooter during a reload have the bad guy fire 10 rounds then keep firing because some guy on a shooting spree probably doesn't care about a magazine limit. Point proven that magazine restrictions don't matter!

But you can't do tactical reloads in real life. If you could, how would you tactical somebody while they were trying to reload?
