Pretty interesting. The narcissistic nature of Facebook, Twitter, etc. is definitely present. This is basically a discussion of the logical conclusion of narcissism taken to its logical outcome: socio- and psycho-paths! A student of human behavior and the history of mankind will usually come to the same conclusions as what's presented in this video.
What's interesting is that it's actually difficult (as in, it's kind of "hidden") to actually & completely delete your FB account, not just disable it. It used to be even more obscure, but they've changed it over the recent years... However, what do they do with the DATA? Is it actually deleted? Some will say, "no way", it's stored forever. Just like your Tweets and many other things.

I deleted mine last month. It feels great. Facebook stopped being a way to stay in touch with family/friends, and just became a way to see what everyone was doing at any given moment.

I have a facebook page for my business, but I really have been considering just purging my page down to essentially nothing, and just keeping a minimal presence for the business page.

That's how I find my girlfriends..... I just follow them on Twitter and Facebook.... Then I go after the lonely ones. :)

I like Facebook only because it allows me to see what people are really like before I consider bringing them in to interview for a position at my company. We have really dodged some bullets. I throw out 7 out of 10 resumes based on what we find on their FB page.
On a personal level. I can't stand Facebook.

I'm pretty sure I didn't get a job because Facebook had reset my privacy policies for me with one of their redesigns (so I had *no* privacy) and my cover photo showed gourmet beers (I buy in bulk).
Note: I drink for taste, and one beer generally in an evening. I don't go out and party so there were no absurd pictures of me puking in an alley, just the one shot of a row of craft beers. If this was why I didn't get hired, their loss!

With the amount I'm away from home, and the fact that most of my friends are in Denver and I'm not, Facebook helps keep in touch a little with them.
But I don't put what I'm doing all the time on it, either. And I sure the hell don't use the other crap like Twitter.

NYPD has a "social media background check"...
EVERY thurough background check these days includes things you've publicly posted on social media sites. It's SOP for BGC companies that run checks for employers.
this reminds me I need to update my status...
I haven't had GPS-Book in years. I find it a little too eager to track my location, mine/broadcast my personal info, and generally waste my time. Not to mention I have numerous ex-gf's which apparently look me up frequently enough to initiate contact every time I signed on. Decided early on that it was counter-productive to my belief in marital fidelity.

Never have never will.
I keep FB around because of work. I sell insurance so it's an easy way to keep in touch, have people contact me, etc.
