I've just stepped into the 21st Century, it seems.

CenturyLink turned up my internet speed to a mind-boggling 7MBPS. Also learning how to use a new Razr Maxx HD 4G smartphone. I feel sorry for those of you outside the Bailey metropolitan area that don't have access to the space-age miracles of modern technology available here.

With these fantastic tools of the future in hand, I'm off on a new adventure...streaming video. At the risk of alienating the technologically disadvantaged among you, I'll let you know how that works.

You're phone is going to have faster data speeds in Denver than your house has.

Sorry...you're wrong. Here, it's MBPS: MegaBailey's Per Second. It's a new internet speed classification most haven't even dreamed of.

IF I have an uncle who died after after saying to someone " here hold my beer and watch this " does that count ?

Going from 1.5 to 7 is actually pretty amazing. I can't imagine what 40 would be like. I played with the 4G while in Conifer yesterday. WOW!

Speedtest: 3.75 download, .72 upload. The other guy must be online, too. Really slows things down.

3Mbps up and down is more than fast enough for most people. That's enough to stream an HD movie or play most console video games online.

I pay for 25 (well, actually get it free), but test at 34 or so down.

A FYI for Comcast: At the end of March, speeds are getting an upgrade. If you currently pay for 15, you'll get 25. If you pay for 25, you'll get 50 (10up).

I went from 35 MBPS in Denver to 1.5 MBPS when I moved to New Mexico. That was the FASTEST I could get down here too, it was painful.

Worst part is, I was paying the exact same amount for that slow service as I was up in Denver. Since moving out of the mountains, they have recently bumped me up to 10MBPS at "no cost to our subscribers" and yet in the same letter they told me about that upgrade, they told me about an "increase in costs due to various taxes they've incurred but this is in no way related to our bumping you up to 10 from 8mbps". Horseshit!

They pull that shit every year. Still haven't seen the upgrade since I switched back from that broke dick Century Link crap.

Are their rates for new customers going to change? I'm moving in 2.5 weeks and I need to figure out what ISP i'm going with.

Also... my internet connection from my desk at work is so bad, I can't even upload an screenshot of my speedtest.net results.

I scored .66Mbps down and .43Mbps up. [pileoshit] <--it took more than 5 minutes to load the pop-up window to pick a smiley icon, or in this case, a steaming pile o' sh!t.

It's in internal memos and documentation. They let us know as of 2/25.

All prices went up like $3 across the board (video, data, and voice) a few months ago, but from there, there are no price increases for new customers. When you move, transfer in with just limited basic cable and let me know. (if you decide to keep comcast)

I don't currently have comcast, but I had them in the past with no real problems. I'd like to just do internet and no cable or voice. I don't watch any TV that I can't get through the internet, and have no need for a landline.

I think they gave him the "common sense" low capacity package. Do you really need all those MBs?

Who knew Bailey was the technical center of the universe. [Wow1]
