View Full Version : Prayer Request
My bride of 16 years is not doing well. She's had a multitude of health issues that have snow-balled over the years. I finally got her to go back into the hospital this past Friday. I just talked to the doctors this morning and her kidneys are failing. They give her a 10% chance that her kidneys will fire up again on their own. Her heart is so weak that dialysis would likely kill her. They're only giving her 2-3 days.
As much as I've logically had the realization that this would probably be the outcome of these health issues, I'm finding that I was not as prepared as I thought I was.
Please pray for us both.

Damn that is bad I wish the best for you and your family. I knew your wife was having medical problems for a very long time just never realized it was that bad.
You your wife and family have my prayers Greg and if there is anything I can do just ask.
:(
Thanks, guys. She never fully recovered from the broken ankle on August 11, 2006, which was the result of collapsing due to poor kidney function. She hasn't walked since. I've been taking care of her by myself at home since February 2007 and working full time. Her health has been declining since February of this year. I'd been trying to get her into the hospital for several weeks because she was retaining fluid. She finally decided to go and it appears that the damage is likely irreversible. I just pray that if the Lord has decided it's time to bring her home, that it will not be painful. It has been very hard for me to watch her declining so quickly.

Psalm 23:1 (NIV)
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
You got them, Sir!

You are both in our prayers and thoughts...
I'm so sorry to hear the terrible news of your wife's health . Our prayers are with you, keep the faith brother. Please let us know if there's anything we can do. God Bless
Thank you folks and we give God all the glory!
When I left Mary last night, she looked really bad. Her kidneys weren't responding to the drugs, she could barely move her arms, she had uncontrollable muscular twitching, and she was really groggy. I checked on her this morning and the nurses told me that her kidneys started kicking in overnight. She moved about 1 liter this morning and she's still progressing. She was lively, she had a glow to her, and was much more responsive. She told me she's not ready to go yet. http://smith-wessonforum.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Our pastor came to the hospital and prayed with us.
I helped her eat some breakfast and she's getting an appetite again. She hasn't eaten much for days.
If her kidney function keeps improving, they're looking to put her on a Lasix drip tomorrow to help move the fluid a bit faster. She's still walking a fine line between getting the fluid off and weakening the heart and kidneys, so the Drs. are being cautious.
God bless you fine folks! Keep up the good work!
Good to hear. Will keep praying and hope for better days.

I haven't been online for almost a week so I'm just now reading this.
I will pray for healing for your wife and comfort for both of you as well as the rest of your family. May God's glory shine through his work here.
Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.
The doctors are very happy with her improvement. Her kidneys were working without the Lasix yesterday. They put her on the Lasix drip this afternoon and she's doing a great job getting the fluid out of her tonight. If this keeps up, I'm expecting her heart and lungs to work better which will also help her kidneys to continue to work better. What a week. There's nothing like the two of us being told on Monday that there was a 90% chance that Mary would be dead in 2 or 3 days. Praise the Lord and thanks to you guys for your support.
Now that the wife will be healing up in the hospital for a while, I'm planning on taking a bit of a break for myself. I'm thinking about getting in a little trigger time on Saturday for the first time in about 18 months.[AR15]

Good news! Shoot well and safe! Keep us posted!
[Beer]
I've been delaying this update since I didn't want to take you guys for the same up and down ride I've been through.
Mary's kidneys just quit on Sunday. The doctors are at a loss for why and have exhausted the options available to them. My wife understands now that she won't live much longer. I've tried to emphasize that she'll be in the presence of the Lord before long and what a joyous time that will be. She is not afraid and heaven waits along with those loved ones that have gone before her. I continue to pray that she will be physically comfortable and spiritually comforted by our faith.
They are moving her to a hospice facility tonight over in Lakewood. It's not at all convenient, but that's what we get with insurance these days.
Thank you guys for the support!

I Corinthians 15:20 (International Children’s Bible ~ Used by permission)
But Christ has truly been raised from death--the first one and proof that those who are asleep in death will also be raised.
21 Death comes to everyone because of what one man did. But the rising from death also happens because of one man.
22 In Adam all of us die. In the same way, in Christ all of us will be made alive again.
51 But listen, I tell you this secret: We will not all die, but we will all be changed.
52 It will only take a second. We will be changed as quickly as an eye blinks. This will happen when the last trumpet sounds. The trumpet will sound and those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we will all be changed.
53 This body that will ruin must clothe itself with something that will never ruin. And this body that dies must clothe itself with something that will never die.
54 So this body that ruins will clothe itself with that which never ruins. And this body that dies will clothe itself with that which never dies. When this happens, then this Scripture will be made true:
"Death is destroyed forever in victory." [Isaiah 25:8]
55 "Death, where is your victory?
Death, where is your power to hurt?" [Hosea 13:14]
56 Death's power to hurt is sin. The power of sin is the law.
57 But we thank God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 So my dear brothers, stand strong. Do not let anything change you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord. You know that your work in the Lord is never wasted.
Greg
If you need ANYTHING just let us know. Take comfort in the fact that as a good christian she will be saved and be taken into the arms of the lord. I can only hope the best for you in this difficult time. God bless your wife and your family.

A picture from one of the happiest days of our lives, our wedding on February 29th, 1992. God bless her for making me the man I am today. Our reunion will be a joyful one.
God bless all of you for your support through this. I haven't met you all face-to-face, but I hope to some day. There's something special you learn about people from their writing. If I can ever be of a help to you guys, just let me know.
2nd Corinthians 5:6-8
6Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7We live by faith, not by sight. 8We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
Greg,
May the Lord comfort you, and lead you through these difficult times. May Mary rest in peace in the house of the lord. I am sorry for your loss, but relieved that Mary need not suffer any longer. God Bless

Greg,
Words can not truly express the sorrow I feel for you at this time. But I am also filled with joy that Mary is now at home with the Lord and no longer in pain.
May you be comforted in your time of grief by the knowledge that the Lord our God is holding you both in his loving grasp right now.
Please remember that there are many friends here who will assist you should you need anything, me among them.
May God bless you and keep you.

Wow, I haven't been on the board in a while and just read the entire thread. I'm so sorry to hear of your wife's long struggles and her passing. :( You and I met and shot together at a club shoot a couple years ago, if you remember. I'm in Centennial and will be moving to Highlands Ranch next month; if you need anything, PM me. Good luck restarting your life. :(
Thanks, guys. I spent a week in WA and visited with family for the first time in a long time. It was good to break the routine and hang out with them. Got home last night and I'm getting eager to get back to work. I've got a lot of projects around the house to do and a lot of housecleaning/rearranging to do.
I can't wait for the next shoot. I'm already packed and ready. ;)
